Is it me or do the Twins and Guardians play every day of the week? Sure seems that way. That matchup is one of nine games on Monday’s MLB schedule. Here are today’s player props with MLB odds from BetOnline, one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.
Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Monday, June 27, 2022 – 07:07 PM EDT at Rogers Centre
- Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed
Want to remind you that players who aren’t vaccinated can’t make the trip to Canada and the Red Sox thus will be without excellent rookie outfielder Jarren Duran, their leadoff hitter, and closer Tanner Houck because of it.
That should be the extent. The Sox enter on a seven-game winning streak, but I lean Toronto here behind Kevin Gausman (5-6, 3.19 ERA).
The right-hander has been a little inconsistent of late but was solid last time out, allowing two runs over six innings of a no-decision against the White Sox. Gausman has been great vs. Boston this year, allowing just one earned run and 11 hits over 14 innings with 17 strikeouts and nary a walk.
MLB Prop Pick: Kevin Gausman Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-160) with BetOnline
Jackie Bradley Jr.
- Over/Under 0.5 Hits
It’s possible that Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. doesn’t play – although with Duran out less likely he sits – but if he is in there, we are fading him big time at the plate as he’s an ugly 2-for-25 career off Gausman with 10 strikeouts.
Bradley is a fine defender but frankly can’t hit overall. I’m actually surprised under 0.5 hits is plus money.
MLB Prop Pick: Jackie Bradley Under 0.5 Hits (+102) with BetOnline
Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels
Monday, June 27, 2022 – 09:38 PM EDT at Angels Stadium
- At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs
I follow the White Sox, but I’ll admit that I didn’t know this statistic: All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson has gone hitless in three straight games just once over the past three seasons. He hasn’t had a hit in back-to-back games so he’s clearly due.
I don’t buy into all trends but that’s a pretty solid one, so we think he gets at least a knock and comes around to score against Noah Syndergaard even though Anderson is 0-for-3 off his career with two strikeouts.
I’ll bet Anderson is well aware of that three straight games trend and is very aggressive at the plate tonight – he is anyways. Guy has only walked seven times all season but also just 23 strikeouts, so that’s acceptable.
MLB Prop Pick: Tim Anderson at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-179) with BetOnline
- Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
Meanwhile, what’s going on with Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito? He was a chic Cy Young pick this year, but I think having to go to arbitration during the season (because of the lockout) has messed with his head a bit.
The right-hander is a hugely disappointing 4-4 with a 5.40 ERA and has allowed at least four runs in five straight starts. In his last 25.2 innings, Giolito has allowed 27 earned runs (9.47 ERA).
The velocity on his fastball is down quite a bit. Giolito has been working on small mechanical tweaks in his bullpen sessions and said that in those sessions it feels like he’s making progress. It hasn’t shown up on the actual field yet.
When money gets involved, guys can lose focus. Simple as that. Giolito gave up three runs to the Angels in a loss on April 29th at home and has been worse on the road with a 5.77 ERA.
Shohei Ohtani tends to make hard contact off him as he has a double, triple, and homer off Giolito in 17 at-bats. I like Ohtani for a double tonight.
MLB Prop Pick: Lucas Giolito Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-145) with BetOnline
MLB Prop Pick: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (+118) with BetOnline
