Best MLB Player Props to Consider for June 1

We had a very profitable May in terms of MLB player props and fully expect to carry things over to June. Here are four player prop plays for Wednesday with odds from BetOnline, one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks

Seattle Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles

Wednesday, June 1, 2022 – 07:05 PM EDT at Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Robbie Ray

Over/Under 7.5 Strikeouts

It’s lefty and 2021 AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray on the mound for Seattle in Game 2 of the three-game set. He has not really lived up to his massive free-agent contract yet with some numbers as Ray is 4-5 with a 4.75 ERA. Some of that is a bit of bad luck.

However, he does have 68 strikeouts and over his past five starts is averaging 12.5 strikeouts per nine innings with a 20 percent whiff rate.

Ray has struck out at least eight in four straight and faces an Orioles team that struggles against lefties with the team having a collective 26 percent strikeout rate against southpaws.

Few Baltimore batters have good career splits off Ray – Trey Mancini is one of the Birds’ better players, but he may sit tonight considering he’s 2-for-14 with eight strikeouts against Ray. Last year while with the Blue Jays, Ray had 23 strikeouts against the Orioles over 15.2 innings.

MLB Pick: Ray Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+114) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review

Ty France

At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs

We aren’t a big fan of Orioles' rookie pitcher Kyle Bradish, who might be good some days but is an ugly 1-3 with a 7.31 ERA this season. Each of his past three starts has gotten worse, capped by allowing six runs in just 1.2 innings last Friday in Boston.

Usually, right-handed pitchers like Bradish are much better against right-handed batters than lefties, but right-handers are hitting a whopping .361 off him with a 1.174 OPS.

Thus, we’ll take a hit 2 hits + runs + RBIs prop on Seattle infielder Ty France, who is among the MLB leaders with a .347 average (second in total hits) and has a 12-game hitting streak. He was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in Tuesday’s series-opening 10-0 win. I could see France putting up similar numbers Wednesday.

MLB Pick: France With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-189) at BetOnline

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Wednesday, June 1, 2022 - 08:10 PM EDT at Dodger Stadium

What the heck is going on in Los Angeles? The Dodgers have been bigger than -300 favorites in back-to-back games against the terrible Pirates and have lost both games – this would be one of the most unlikely sweeps in recent MLB history.

I’m not even sure it’s a fluke as the Pirates won two of three at home vs. the Dodgers earlier this season. At least L.A. won’t have to worry about Pittsburgh in the National League playoffs.

Jose Quintana

Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs

The Pirates appear to have the pitching advantage in tonight's matchup with veteran lefty Jose Quintana (1-2, 2.15 ERA) vs. Dodgers journeyman Mitch White (2-1, 4.60 ERA).

Quintana has been a revelation for Pittsburgh, not allowing more than three earned in any start and finishing May with a 1.33 ERA in five outings. He has become prime trade bait for the team – and he will be traded.

Thing is, I simply think the Dodgers play with some urgency tonight to avoid the embarrassing sweep and Quintana just isn’t this good – yes, he held the Dodgers scoreless in six innings on May 9 at PNC Park. Last year, he was largely terrible splitting time with the Angels and Giants.

MLB Pick: Quintana Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-145) at BetOnline

Chris Taylor

At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Several Dodgers have good hitting splits vs. Quintana, led by Chris Taylor, who is 6-for-17 with two doubles and two RBIs. Taylor has one hit in each of the first two of this series but hasn’t scored a run in five straight games, so he’s overdue.

MLB Pick: Taylor With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-159) at BetOnline
