Best MLB Player Props to Consider for July 11

Don’t be surprised if a lot of big-name players are placed on the injured list this week – like Houston’s Yordan Alvarez was – so teams can get them some rest through the All-Star break and miss as few games as possible.

Here are today’s picks and player props with MLB odds from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves

Monday, July 11, 2022 – 07:20 PM EDT at Truist Park

The biggest series of the early week begins tonight in Atlanta as the Mets lead the National League East by 1.5 games over the Braves, who not all that long ago were 10.5 games out but have been the best team in the majors since the start of June.

Max Fried (Braves)

  • Over/Under 5.5 Hits Allowed

Fox Sports 1 has the telecast Monday, and it’s a terrific pitching between three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer of the Mets and 2022 candidate and lefty Max Fried of the Braves. Fried is one of five Atlanta players who have been selected for the All-Star Game – the National League will be coached by the Braves’ Brian Snitker.

Scherzer would have been an All-Star, too, if he hadn’t missed a large chunk of the season due to injury. He just returned last Tuesday vs. the Reds with six scoreless innings and 11 strikeouts.

A Watered-Down Lineup

However, we are going to use Fried for our props today because he’s facing a Mets lineup that is expected to be missing three key starters in:

  • James McCann (Catcher)
  • Starling Marte (Outfielder)
  • Jeff McNeil (Infielder/Outfielder)

The first two left Saturday’s game injured and neither played Sunday. McCann has landed on the injured list but Marte hasn’t. Still, hard to see him playing for a few days. McNeil, who leads the team with a .311 average, is expected to go on the paternity list Monday.

Thus, I like Fried (9-2, 2.52 ERA) to dominate that watered-down lineup. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in four straight starts and gave up two runs over six on May 2 at the Mets.

MLB Prop Pick: Max Fried Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (-125) at BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

Ronald Acuna (Braves)

  • Over/Under 0.5 Runs Scored

While few Braves have good splits off Scherzer, one who does is All-Star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. He’s 7-for-20 with a double, triple and homer off Scherzer. I like the Atlanta leadoff hitter to at least get on base a few times and score once.

Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor (Mets)

  • Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases

New York has no chance of winning short-handed unless All-Stars Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor have big games, but they don’t like facing Fried. Alonso is 4-for-21 off him with eight strikeouts and Lindor is 1-for-12 with four Ks.

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies

Monday, July 11, 2022 – 08:40 PM EDT at Coors Field

Jose Urena (Rockies)

  • Over/Under 5.5 Hits Allowed

I’m happy to admit when I’m wrong, and I fully expected journeyman Rockies right-hander Jose Urena to get crushed when he made his 2022 starting debut with the team last Wednesday against the Dodgers, yet Urena allowed just one run over 6.2 innings against one of the best lineups in the league.

OK, fine, but now he starts for the first time in the thin air of Coors Field, and on a hot night, the ball should be flying in Denver. The 30-year-old Urena is 36-54 with a 4.73 ERA in his career for a reason.

This year at Triple-A Albuquerque before being recalled by the Rockies, Urena was 0-1 with a 7.29 ERA in 17 innings. He’s not a good pitcher.

Manny Machado (Padres)

  • Manny Machado: Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases

I expect the Padres to score plenty and a big night from All-Star Manny Machado for our MLB picks. Since the start of the 2019 season, Machado is hitting .319 with 14 extra-base hits and a .942 OPS over 29 games at Coors Field.

Kris Bryant (Rockies)

  • Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases

On the flip side, Rockies' third baseman Kris Bryant had been a free-agent mega-bust until recently as the former NL MVP’s bat has woken up.

He's reached base safely in all 12 games since returning from the injured list and is hitting .385 with a 1.198 OPS over his past 10 games. Bryant is 3-for-4 career with two homers off Padres starter Sean Manaea.
