Very short slate around the majors on Thursday, so we have to be a bit picky on our bets.

Marlins vs. Phillies: What You Should Know
The Phillies look for the three-game sweep of the punch-less Marlins, who have lost nine in a row.
Wednesday was actually a positive day for Miami, though, as a Jacob Stallings solo homer in the top of the ninth was the team’s third run of the game.
It snapped a streak of the Marlins scoring two runs or fewer in nine straight games, among the worst such stretches in MLB history.
Marlins' Prop Bet: Sandy Alcantara
- Over/Under 5.5 Strikeouts
- To Record A Win
I have been riding Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara (12-7, 2.36 ERA) a lot this season, and he remains the heavy NL Cy Young favorite at -330.
Might the right-hander be wearing down, though? He has allowed 6 earned runs in two of his past three outings. He also has a 3.30 road ERA compared to 1.61 at home.
Finally, Alcantara is 1-2 with a 3.03 ERA in four starts this year against the Phillies.
Phillies' Prop Bet: Harper and Schwarber
- Bryce Harper Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
- Kyle Schwarber Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
Two Philadelphia batters in particular have solid splits against him: Bryce Harper is 10-for-27 with four doubles and a homer, and Kyle Schwarber is 7-for-20 with three doubles.
MLB Prop Pick: Alcantara Under 5.5 Strikeouts (+115) at BetOnline
MLB Prop Pick: Alcantara Not to Record a Win (-210) at BetOnline

Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics

White Sox vs. Athletics: What You Should Know
We had four prop picks from Wednesday’s Oakland home game vs. Atlanta, and the A’s actually surprised by scoring two first-inning runs off NL Rookie of the Year favorite Spencer Strider. He shut them down after that but cost us an under 1.5 earned runs allowed.
We did win on Strider to record a win at -165 (Braves rallied for 7-3 victory) and under 0.5 hits for A’s outfielder Ramon Laureano at -115.
This is the only late-night start on the seven-game MLB schedule. The White Sox had a great Wednesday as they rallied from down 4-0 early in Seattle to win 9-6 and saw AL Central leader Cleveland blow a 1-0 ninth-inning lead in Kansas City and lose.
Chicago is now only two games back of the Guardians.
White Sox's Prop Bet: Dylan Cease
- Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Over/Under 4.5 Hits Allowed
- Over/Under 8.5 Strikeouts
- To Record A Win
It’s possible that White Sox ace Dylan Cease becomes the AL Cy Young betting favorite tonight. He’s currently a +105 second favorite at BMR’s top-rated books behind Houston’s Justin Verlander (-160), but Verlander hasn’t pitched since Aug. 28 and might not the rest of the regular season due to a calf injury.
Cease (13-6, 2.13 ERA, 197 Ks) came within 1 out of a perfect game his last time out against the Twins. He's allowed 3 hits or fewer in five of his past six starts, and he's holding hitters to a .185 average this season. On the road, his ERA is 1.78.
On July 31 in Chicago, he held the A’s to 1 run and 4 hits with 7 Ks in six innings in a victory. Dylan Cease is the first MLB pitcher since Wilbur Wood in 1972 to make 20-plus starts of 0 or 1 earned run allowed through 133 games of a season (the Sox have played four more since Cease’s last start).
White Sox's Prop Bet: Jose Abreu
- Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
Sox's first baseman Jose Abreu was 1-for-2 with two RBIs on Wednesday to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. It’s the 18th hitting streak of his career of at least 10 games and fourth this season.
He’s hitting .374 over his past 23. Abreu hasn’t faced A’s rookie lefty JP Sears but is hitting an AL-best .341 on the road this year.
Athletics' Prop Bet: Seth Brown
- Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases
Hard to see that pitiful Oakland lineup doing anything tonight. We’ll fade Seth Brown, who has arguably been the A’s MVP with 21 homers and 55 RBIs.
Seth Brown has homered in three straight games but is 0-for-5 career off Cease with 2 strikeouts.
