With the Los Angeles Angels ending their 14-game skid Thursday, the longest active losing streak in the MLB now belongs to the Oakland Athletics at nine in a row.

That’s just a little bit of general culture as we won’t be looking at any props for either team as we look to the Blue Jays vs. Tigers and the Rockies vs. Padres. Here are our Friday player props picks with betting odds from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Preview)

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Detroit Tigers

Friday, June 10, 2022 – 07:10 PM EDT at Comerica Park

Elvin Rodriguez

  • Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs

This is the first game of the season between these somewhat neighbors, although obviously, Toronto is in the AL East and the Tigers in the AL Central. Many Blue Jays fans often plan a weekend in Detroit around when their team visits there and Tigers fans do the same in Toronto.

One reason that Detroit has been a disappointment this season has been a rotation ravaged by injuries, led by former No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize and big-ticket free-agent addition Eduardo Rodriguez. The only reason rookie right-hander Elvin Rodriguez is in the MLB is because the Tigers are so desperate.

This might be the last start in the "Big Show" for Elvin, though, as he’s 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA. In four starts and was slaughtered for 10 runs and 11 hits last time out vs. the Yankees. Frankly, it seemed cruel to leave him out there that long. I’d be shocked if the Jays don’t score at least three earned off him.

MLB Prop Pick: Elvin Rodriguez Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-135) at BetOnline

Alejandro Kirk

  • Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Toronto did get some bad news this week with No. 1 catcher Danny Jansen landing on the injured list with a fractured finger, but that simply means 1A Alejandro Kirk will play every day – either behind the plate or at DH.

Kirk is having a breakout season with a .322 average and excellent .401 OBP. He enters on a five-game hitting streak with at least two hits in three of those games. Kirk has 13 hits in his past 28 at-bats overall with eight runs scored.

MLB Prop Pick: Alejandro Kirk Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-139) at BetOnline

Miguel Cabrera vs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

  • Most Total Bases From Hits

Detroit’s leading hitter is 39-year-old and future Hall of Famer, Miguel Cabrera (.297), although he’s just 3-for-18 with no extra-base hits and three strikeouts in his career against Jays pitcher Jose Berrios. Let's not forget that Berrios spent a lot of time in the AL Central formerly with the Twins.

While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hasn’t seen Elvin Rodriguez, I expect a big day. Vlady has 19 extra-base hits this year and Cabrera only nine.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres

Friday, June 10, 2022 - 09:40 PM EDT at Petco Park

Joe Musgrove

  • Over/Under 5.5 Strikeouts
  • To Record A Win

The series opener between these two NL West rivals sees the Padres as one of the biggest favorites on the board. And they should be with Cy Young contender Joe Musgrove on the mound – he is a +550 third-favorite to win it at BMR’s best sportsbooks and betting sites.

Right now, he's only behind:

  1. Sandy Alcantara +425 (Miami Marlins)
  2. Corbin Burnes +475 (Milwaukee Brewers)

Alcantara is one of those players who we bet on in this space every time he takes the mound. As for Burnes, the 2021 winner, life hasn’t been great of late and should be behind Musgrove in my opinion.

In 10 starts so far this season, Musgrove has a:

  • 6-0 Record
  • 1.64 ERA
  • 0.92 WHIP
  • 64 Strikeouts

He hasn’t allowed more than two earned in a start yet. He flirted with a second career no-hitter last time out but settled for eight innings of one-hit ball in Milwaukee with six strikeouts. Musgrove isn’t a huge strikeout guy in terms of getting double digits but is essentially a lock for six per game.

While the right-hander hasn’t faced the Rockies yet this season, Colorado is hitting just .240 as a team away from Coors Field compared to .275 at home.

Eric Hosmer vs. Jose Iglesias

  • Most Total Bases By Hits

San Diego’s Eric Hosmer was among the NL batting leaders for a while but has cooled off and is down .294. He got a bit of a break this week by resting Wednesday and then the Friars were off Thursday.

That kind of mini-break can energize a veteran for our last MLB pick. Hosmer is hitting .341 at home and is 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs in his career against Rockies starter Chad Kuhl.

Meanwhile, Rockies shortstop Jose Iglesias was always known for his glove over his bat but is hitting a surprising .305 this year. However, only 12 of his 51 hits are for extra bases and all doubles. Iglesias has no power. He is 2-for-7, both singles, in his career off Musgrove.
