It’s a full slate of games around the majors on Tuesday, but be aware that weather could be a factor in a few of them.

Here are today’s player props with MLB odds from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Miami Marlins

Rays vs. Marlins: What You Should Know

We know this game will happen this evening because even though it may rain in Miami – and it does for at least a little while pretty much every day in the summer – the team has a retractable roof (that’s rarely open).

I wrote yesterday that you should be backing most starting pitchers when they face the punchless Marlins and we backed the Dodgers’ Tony Gonsolin on Monday in Miami, but he was scratched before his start and landed on the injured list.

Rays' Prop Bet: Shane McClanahan

  • Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
  • Over/Under 6.5 Strikeouts
  • To Record A Win

The Gonsolin injury news was a surprise, and as far as I know, there’s nothing wrong with Rays ace lefty Shane McClanahan, who is a +750 third favorite at the top-rated sportsbooks to win the AL Cy Young Award.

McClanahan is 11-5 with a 2.20 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 182 strikeouts on the season. He comes off 6 shutout innings against the Angels, who have a lot better lineup than the Marlins do. His 9 strikeouts were his most since July 2 at Toronto when he had 10.

McClanahan is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two career starts against the Marlins. That ERA against them is his lowest against any opponent that he has faced multiple times.

MLB Prop Pick: McClanahan Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+100) at BetOnline

Marlins' Prop Bet: Garrett Cooper

  • Over/Under 0.5 Hits

Just for the sake of fairness, we’ll take one Marlins hitter tonight in Garrett Cooper simply as he’s 2-for-3 career off McClanahan.

Rays' Prop Bet: Isaac Paredes

  • Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases

For Tampa Bay, we like rookie Isaac Paredes as he comes off a two-homer game on Sunday in Boston. He has gone deep four times in his last six contests and is up to 18 dingers on the season.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

Tuesday, August 30, 2022 - 06:40 PM EDT at Great American Ball Park

Cardinals vs. Reds: What You Should Know

On Monday, the Cards faced a bad Reds' starting pitcher in Chase Anderson and scored 13 runs on 14 hits. Albert Pujols homered off a 450th different pitcher, the most in MLB history.

He had been tied with Barry Bonds for most pitchers as longball victims at 449. Pujols is now at 694 career homers, but BetOnline still gives him +300 longer-shot odds to reach 700 because he doesn’t play every day – and that’s why I’m not doing a prop on him.

Reds' Prop Bet: Justin Dunn

  • Over/Under 3.5 Earned Runs Allowed
  • To Record A Win

The Cardinals might be in the most favorable hitting spot of any team tonight because they are playing in a very hitter-friendly park in Cincinnati and facing perhaps the worst pitcher to take the mound tonight in Reds journeyman Justin Dunn (1-2, 5.12 ERA).

The Cardinals project for 6.14 runs scored in this one, the only team over 6 runs tonight. They are 21-6 in August; their top all-time August mark was set in 1944 (23-4).

Cardinals' Prop Bet: Tyler O’Neill

  • Over/Under 0.5 Home Runs

We will do one on Tyler O’Neill, who went yard twice on Monday and has gone deep five times in his last seven games

He’s one homer back of George Wood (68) for 14th all-time among Canadian players in career dingers.

MLB Prop Pick: O’Neill Over 0.5 Home Runs (+300) at BetOnline

Cardinals' Prop Bet: Nolan Arenado

  • Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases

For my MLB picks, I also like Nolan Arenado tonight as he was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run on Monday to stay hot. In August, Arenado’s 19 extra-base hits and 71 total bases rank second in MLB.
