Usually, there are a lot of matinees on a limited Thursday schedule around MLB but there’s just one today in an unusual slate. Here are today’s player props with MLB odds from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs
Thursday, June 30, 2022 – 08:05 PM EDT at Wrigley Field
Reds vs. Cubs: What You Should Know
Series finale between NL Central rivals. There’s a high total of 10 runs because early projections have the winds blowing out this evening at around 14 mph at Wrigley Field.
Thus, with great hitting conditions we are going to back a couple of Reds off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks (3-6, 4.90 ERA), who has been wildly inconsistent this season. He was absolutely dominant last time out with 7.1 shutout innings in St. Louis but was terrible the start before.
Hendricks’s money pitch is a changeup and those can hang – on a windy day, he’s likely going to give up some longballs. Hendricks also has a 5.18 ERA at home this year.
MLB Prop Bet: Brandon Drury vs. Ian Happ
- Most Total Bases
Reds' third baseman Brandon Drury went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and 2 runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs. His 16 homers already have tied a career-high, and he has multiple hits in three consecutive games and four of his last five.
Drury has hit safely in eight straight games and 22 of his last 24, batting .347 (34-for-98) with 4 doubles, one triple, 8 homers, and 14 RBIs during that stretch. Drury has an extra-base hit in six straight games, the longest active stretch in the majors.
Drury is 2-for-5 with a double career off Hendricks. The Cubs’ Happ, meanwhile, is slumping as over the past seven days he’s just 3-for-24 with six strikeouts. He hasn’t faced Reds' rookie pitcher Graham Ashcraft.
MLB Prop Pick: Drury for More Total Bases (-164) at BetOnline
Reds Prop Bet: Joey Votto
- At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs
There may be no bigger Cub-killer active in the majors right now than the Reds’ Joey Votto. He went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, an RBI, a walk, and a run scored Wednesday.
It was his 145th career RBI at Wrigley Field, one behind Albert Pujols for the most by a visiting player (active players only). In his last nine games at Wrigley Field, Votto is batting .355 (11-for-31) with 3 doubles, 7 homers, and 12 RBIs.
Career off Hendricks, he’s hitting .395 (15-for-38) with 9 extra-base hits and 15 walks for a 1.477 OPS.
MLB Prop Pick: Votto With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130) at BetOnline
New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros
Thursday, June 30, 2022 - 06:10 PM EDT at Minute Maid Park
Yankees vs. Astros: What You Should Know
These clubs met last weekend at Yankee Stadium and split, although Houston probably should have won all four its bullpen blew late leads on Thursday and Sunday. The big news here is that the Astros probably will be without AL MVP candidate Yordan Alvarez and AL Rookie of the Year candidate Jeremy Pena.
Both had to leave Wednesday’s win at the Mets after they collided while chasing a pop-up and both are being evaluated for a concussion. Both players called for the ball, and as Pena caught it, each hit the other in the face with his glove.
Alvarez was removed on a cart. He leads the team in batting (.316), homers (23), and RBIs (56), while Pena is hitting .275 with 9 homers and 27 RBIs and helping Astros fans forget about Carlos Correa.
Yankees Prop Bet: Luis Severino
- Over/Under 6.5 Strikeouts
- To Record A Win?
Normally, I would not recommend any pitcher against Houston at full strength, but minus those two and with Michael Brantley on the injured list, it is far from full strength.
Thus, we have to go over Luis Severino’s strikeouts – he whiffed seven Astros last Friday and has struck out at least 7 in five straight outings.
MLB Prop Pick: Severino Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-103) at BetOnline
MLB Prop Pick: Severino to Record a Win (+110) at BetOnline
Yankees Prop Bet: Giancarlo Stanton
- At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs
He hit a three-run homer Wednesday in the Yankees' win over the Athletics. Stanton has now homered in five of his last six contests. 8 of his last hits have been home runs, including each of his last 6.
He also has 10 RBIs in his last seven games, 12 in his last 11 games, and 16 in his last 16. Plus, Stanton is 1-for-2 career with a homer off Astros starter Luis Garcia.
MLB Prop Pick: Stanton With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145) at BetOnline
