Full schedule plus one game Tuesday around the major leagues and we might see a rarity: The Dodgers as underdogs (although they are currently very short favorites at the White Sox). Here are six player prop plays for Tuesday with odds from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks

Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Tuesday, June 07, 2022 – 07:05 PM EDT at PNC Park

Series opener between two pretty bad teams. We all expected the Pirates to stink as they are in full-blown rebuild/tank mode, but Detroit was supposed to contend for a playoff spot after being one of the American League’s best teams in the second half of last season.

The Tigers have many issues, including an impotent offense and that a few of their promising young pitchers have been injured this year – former No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize hasn’t pitched since mid-April with an elbow strain and won’t anytime soon.

Tarik Skubal

Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed

There has been one huge bright spot, though, and that’s 25-year-old lefty Tarik Skubal. He has emerged as the ace of the staff and a potential All-Star with a 4-2 record, 2.15 ERA, 61 strikeouts, and 0.95 WHIP.

He hasn’t personally lost since late April and has not allowed an earned run in four of his past six – and those were against offenses a lot better than Pittsburgh’s. I don’t really see the Bucs doing much off him.

MLB Pick: Skubal for More Strikeouts (-228 ) at BetOnline

Jose Quintana vs. Tarik Skubal

Most Strikeouts

Skubal is opposed by surprise Pittsburgh veteran ace Jose Quintana, who is 1-2 with a 2.32 ERA, 41 strikeouts, and 1.23 WHIP. It’s a 100 percent sure thing that Quintana will be traded this summer to a contender for a prospect or two – probably the sooner the better for the Pirates because the lefty is not this good.

Quintana pitches largely to contact and hasn’t struck out more than four in his past three outings. Skubal has struck out at least five in six in a row with a high of 11.

MLB Pick: Skubal Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+130) at BetOnline

Miguel Cabrera

Over/Under 0.5 Hits

The Tiger with the best betting average on the team is 39-year-old future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera at .301. A 39-year-old should not be leading a potential contender in batting, but that’s a story for another day. Cabrera comes off a 3-for-3 day vs. the Yankees on Sunday and is batting .375 this month.

He has 49 career at-bats off Quintana and is hitting .327 with two homers and eight RBIs. We’ll just go with a hit because I don’t trust any other Detroit batters to get on base for him to have an RBI in this one.

MLB Pick: Cabrera Over 0.5 Hits (-251) at BetOnline

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants

Tuesday, June 07, 2022 – 09:45 PM EDT at Oracle Park

Carlos Rodon

To Have 6+ Strikeouts and Giants To Win

Series opener matchup between NL West rivals and one of the apparent mismatches as the Giants are -220 at BMR’s top-rated books. I am quite sure they win behind ace Carlos Rodon (4-4, 3.44 ERA). The lefty was incredibly dominant in his first six starts of the season to the point he became the National League Cy Young favorite.

He hasn’t been quite that guy since but is still 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA at home with 39 strikeouts in just 23 innings. Rodon has struck out at least six in each home start and whiffed 12 Rockies in an 8-5 home win on May 9.

MLB Pick: Rodon With at Least 6 Strikeouts and Giants to Win (-176) at BetOnline

German Marquez

Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs

On the flip side, Colorado’s German Marquez is having a terrible season at 1-5 with a 6.71 ERA and 0-3 record with 6.89 ERA on the road. He always has been pretty bad on the road but usually solid at Coors Field. Marquez hasn’t faced the Giants this year but was 0-4 with a 13.84 ERA against them last year.

San Francisco might get back one reinforcement tonight in slugging first baseman Brandon Belt, who has a good chance of being activated off the injured list.

MLB Pick: Marquez Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-140) at BetOnline

Mike Yastrzemski

At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs

The Giants batter we like tonight, though, is outfielder Mike Yastrzemski. He is 4-for-13 with two doubles, a homer and three RBIs career vs. Marquez. Yaz is also hitting 23 points higher at home than the road this year.

MLB Pick: Yastrzemski With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-122) at BetOnline
