We’re back at it again on Wednesday with more MLB action to play. There are some really great matchups on the diamond tonight and we will take full advantage. We have put in the effort, done the homework and are now ready to find the winners. Let’s hit it, brother!
New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Wednesday, May 05, 2021 – 05:15 PM EDT at Busch Stadium
The Mets and Cardinals got rained out on Tuesday night and now will play a double header on Wednesday afternoon and evening. In the first game this afternoon the Mets will send Marcus Stroman to the mound to take on Kwang Hyun Kim for the Cardinals.
Kim has been really good for St. Louis so far this season. He has gone 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA, but I think there are some problems looming for him in this game. First, the Mets hit lefties pretty well. Second, the Mets bats seem to have some life in them over the last few games. If the Mets can have some success getting to Kim, the Cardinals bullpen is most certainly not a strength for them.
Stroman has been sublime so far this season. He is 3-2 with a 1.84 ERA and has looked excellent along the way. He had a slight hamstring issue in the last start he made, but it seems like a minor issue. I think this is a prime spot for the Mets to grab a win with the starting matchup favoring them and with them holding a significant edge in the bullpen.
MLB Pick: Mets Moneyline (-105) at Bovada
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Diego Padres
Wednesday, May 05, 2021 - 08:10 PM EDT at Petco Park
The Pirates will send JT Brubaker to the mound and he has been stellar this year, going 2-2 with a 2.63 ERA. Now understand that unfortunately for him the Pirates are still not very good. Their offense is such a mess right now that they don’t support the efforts of Brubaker and others. They did manage to grab a win yesterday against these Padres, but prior to that they lost four in a row.
The Padres are off to an inconsistent start to this season. They are 17-14 and 6-4 in their last ten games. One thing that has not been inconsistent about the Padres season is the performance of their starting pitcher this evening, Yu Darvish. Darvish has gone 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA. He has been outstanding.
This game shapes up as one with few runs being scored. Particularly early on while the starters are in the game. Darvish and Brubaker have been excellent on the mound this season and the Pirates offense has been underwhelming.
MLB Pick: 1st 5 Innings Under 3.5 (-120) at Bovada
