We’re back at it again on Tuesday with more MLB action to play. There are some really great matchups on the diamond tonight and we will take full advantage. We have put in the effort, done the homework and are now ready to find the winners. Let’s hit it, brother!
New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Tuesday, May 4, 2021 – 07:45 PM EDT at Busch Stadium
These two went at it Monday night and the Cardinals won 6-5 as the Mets threatened in the top of the ninth, but couldn’t close the deal. Tonight we get a different matchup and one that is very exciting on paper.
The New York Mets are off to an up and down start as they sit at 11-12 on the young season thus far. One player who is not off to such a start is Jacob deGrom. He is off to his usual, unbelievable, spectacular start, going 2-2 with an ERA of 0.51, and no that is not a typo. Someone giving up less than a run a game still has two losses. The Mets’ inconsistent offense can be thanked for that. Now he takes the mound looking to be the stopper that he is.
St. Louis is off to a nice little 17-12 start this year, and the man taking the mound tonight has been very solid for them. Johan Oviedo has no decisions but has a 2.79 ERA. He has nice stuff and should be able to keep the Cardinals within reach, which will be critical because of how dominant deGrom has been. The Cardinals offense should be able to do something if they can reach the Mets bullpen.

Cleveland Indians vs. Kansas City Royals
Tuesday, May 4, 2021 – 08:10 PM EDT at Kauffman Stadium
The Indians took the first matchup between these two last night 8-6, for their second in a row and their third win in four games. The Indians’ bats have been coming alive a bit more over the last week, which has been a big help to them. Now the Indians come into Kansas City and they are sending young lefty Sam Hentges to the mound. He is more of an opener than a true starter this year and he has been shaky.
The Royals are sending Mike Minor to the hill today and he has been inconsistent as well. He is 2-1 with a 5.26 ERA on the season thus far. The one thing I like about the veteran lefty is that he can be crafty. This Indians lineup can be gotten to on certain nights and this could be a good spot for Minor to do well. I also think the Royals lineup is more potent overall than the Indians. I like the Royals in the bounce back spot here tonight at home.
