888 Holdings provided a trading update for the third quarter of 2005, which saw a 56 per cent overall rise in net gaming revenue, up to $70m, driven particularly by a 178 per cent increase in poker revenue, up to $29.5m.
The number of active players was up 118 per cent, to 316,553, compared to the same periosd the year before, while the net gaming revenue per active member remained stable at $458.
Cumulative results for the nine months ended September 30 showed a 51 per cent increase in net gaming revenue to $194m.
“Our performance for this three-month period has been particularly pleasing given that, historically, trading for the casino segment in July and August is the weakest for the year,” said Chief Executive John Anderson.
“The results for October are encouraging and the business continues to perform in line with our expectations in both poker and casino. We are confident that the 888 business model is strongly positioned to take advantage of the continued growth in the worldwide online gaming market.”
In reaction to the strong third quarter update from 888 Holdings, shares in the company gained 5%, while rival PartGaming climbed 6.25p to 93.5p.
