Betfair reported on December 7th to have reimbursed £657,770 to 889 punters, with another £68,100 credited in commission rebates to 158 more former Sporting Options\’ clients.
The leading betting exchange confirmed that just 1,772 punters, out of 5,342 who lost money in the Sporting Options\’ collapse, have registered for compensation. Betfair had set aside £3.5 million for its rescue package, but believe that the stringent security checks, requiring Sporting Options clients to provide two identity documents, proof of address and bank details, might be putting off those with minimal amounts lost.
