As we close in on the end of the year and the winter break, we’re running out of games in the calendar year to profit from the La Liga games we have left.
The first game of the weekend takes place on Friday night and features two of the sides sitting towards the bottom of La Liga. Alaves and Las Palmas have been very poor recently and if there was a way of betting on neither side to deserve a point, I’d probably take it. As it is, this is a game to avoid and I’m taking my own advice on that one.
Saturday kicks off with Getafe against Eibar and I’m following my own string of good results with Eibar with another bet on them. They did me proud at the weekend and at odds of 4.11 there is some value in taking them for the away win here as well.
Real Madrid have not been a side that can be relied upon this season. For once they look fallible and in a game against Sevilla (who they sit next to in the table) they could come unstuck. If we’re comparing form then Sevilla are the side to back but even at long odds there is no real value here.
Deportivo La Coruna v Leganes is a game where you may want to consider betting on the away side. The odds are good at 3.34 with Pinnacle and they win this match up based on most metrics I measure. The Leganes defence away from home looks particularly good and considering they’re facing a fairly weak attack, I’m very tempted to stretch this to Win To Nil for the away side.
Valencia have come a long way in just a few seasons, not too long go they were real relegation candidates, now they’re the closest challengers for the title. Manager Marcelinho has a lot to do with that and surely he will be in the reckoning the next time a big job becomes available. Up against Celta Vigo this week they should win but Celta Vigo have been the party poopers on a few occasions for me so I’m avoiding the Match Odds market on this one. If Both Teams to Score can creep up to around 1.7 then I’ll be betting on that but right now I can’t back that either.
I’m going to skip right over Real Sociedad v Malaga as I’ve nothing there and will move on instead to Real Betis v Atletico Madrid where I’m going for Under 2.5 goals. That’s based purely on Madrid’s ability in defence (they have the second best away defence in the league. Pinnacle are offering 1.93 on that.
Levante v Bilbao is another game to skip as both sides are struggling right now.
It’s not often in a season where you get to back Barcelona at anything close to reasonable odds. Their away game against Villarreal is just such an occasion. Green-listed bookmaker, Pinnacle are offering a home bet at 1.56, its is low but there’s a touch of value in this one, enough for me anyway.
The last game of the round is Espanyol v Girona and this is another game to avoid. Neither side is doing well but both are in a reasonable vein of form (with Girona doing better overall). There’s no point stretching to find a bet when there’s nothing there so closing out the weeks betting before this one seems reasonable.
