I have been a customer of winner.com for a few months and was told I was invited to their VIP scheme. As part of that this weekend I received a promotion saying that I would receive matching free bets upto £500 per premier league match if I bet on the away team and they lost. I did a few but not all matches and was allowed £500 on every time I tried. I now have 2 £500 free bets in my account from the weekend and I am due another. However when I tried to place a bet on tonight's premier league I received an error message saying I was limited to £27. I've since tried to place bets on many other sports and football at low odds. I've even tried SP horse bets and football accumulators but I can barely get £100 on anything even at very low odds. There is nothing on the site I can bet the free bet tokens on and they cannot be split. They only imposed these limits once I had placed the qualifying bets. All I did was participate in an offer they emailed me specifically inviting me to and they have pretty much reneged on it. The odds were not even that good compared to other UK sportbooks. I have contacted my VIP manager but he says there is nothing he can do. I have also asked him to escalate the dispute to management but they have told him there's nothing they will do.

What seems totally unfair to me is that on the same Premier League market Winner allowed £500 when you bet with your own money and only £27 when you tried to use the free bet.

Surely if the trading department imposed bet limits on you, Winner should have known better and not offer you the free bet in the first place.

Right now this looks like a "bait and switch" offer.

Anyone else had (or heard of) a similar experience with Winner.com?

Yeah obviously sportsbooks limit and have a right to but what they have done here is limit me the day after the period to place qualifying bets. I have tried to submit a complaint with SBR but they pretty much told me it's within the bookmakers rights to limit customers without considering the poor timing of this incident. To me this is no better than the likes of sportingbet withholding freebets.

You need to consider that Winner.com is a new sportsbook with a big marketing budget so SBR is probably doing its job...as an affiliate.

And my question there is: what does SBR have to do for players to realize that they first care about lining their pockets and only subsequently look after the player interests?

Going back to your issue, Bookmakers Review will speak to Winner as we need to have both sides of the story, but personally I have no reason to believe that you are making up any of your claims.

And if Winner cannot offer the same betting limits on Premier League matches for both your bets and the free bets, then we'll reconsider their rating.

I understand SBR primarily looks after its sponsor bookmakers but I thought it worth a try to report it there as well as here.

No argument there: as a player with a problem you should report it to as many review sites as possible, but to be honest my question was meant to be a rhetorical question for the players community at large as I don't understand why the SBR Forum is so busy despite them not really caring for players.

I was actually supposed to be on holiday so I've asked my business partner to contact Winner, but in all honesty it's unlikely that we'll get a reply during the week end.

Hi steve1845 - we have again spoken to Winner and this is being dealt with internally. We have pressed them for a resolution and they have promised to come back to us soon. Will keep you posted.

Did they get back to you?

They have asked BMR to publish a statement but since the statement does not address imho the issue of the complaint and raises even more questions, I have invited one of their representatives to join the forum.

Hopefully he'll post Winner's official position on the case today, then together we'll address the statement.

We tried to contact you twice through the complaints system last week, did you get the emails?

No I didn't get anything so I just assumed you couldn't get anywhere with them. I've just checked and my email is correct on here and I don't have anything in my junk mail.

I am a new member this week and placed a £25 bet which entitled me to a free £25, or so I thought! I tried to place this free bet but was offered a bet of just £7.45. I tried to bet on another sporting event as thought perhaps the odds were too high but was then offered a bet of £13. This went on for several bets and then the free bet expired. I asked for help on the live chat and they gave me the free bet back (which was good of them) I was informed that I could make a free bet between odds of 1.5 and 11.00 for the full amount. The free bet could not be split and if a lower price was offered and accepted then the residual amount would be forfeited.

In the end I was forced to place a bet for odds of 1.5 to enable to place the full £25 bet. This was extremely unfair as the odds I wanted originally was only 2.4 which I am sure would not have broke them as a bookmaker!!

Having read your complaint it is clear I am not alone. I have made a couple of bets in the past with other bookmakers who have offered free bets and have never had this problem.

Winners Terms and Conditions for the Free Bet state:

Winner reserves the right to limit the eligibility of customers to participate in these promotions

Free bets are often more trouble than they are worth.

The fact Winner has terms that says they can do what they want doesn't make it right.

The truth is that a "bookmaker" that offers a £25 free bet and then doesn't have an event to match the amount in full is not a bookmaker.

Jess360,

do you also have a rollover to complete with those limits?
