Hi

First time posting on this wonder if anybody could give me information regarding my situation.

I recently placed a bet on a boxing fight for the match to finish in the 3rd it was just a pure guess and was it make the fight interesting anyway the fight was stopped in the 3rd round...the next day I went to withdraw my fund and was told that this fight was under investigation. I recently learned that other bookmarkers have paid out on this fight yet William hill has not.

I contacted the sporting bodies and was told that as far as they know there is no investigation..just looking for some help regarding this.

Thanks

No william hill have not told me who is investigating this fight...it's just William hill..the fight was held in New York...I contacted the New York sporting governing who held the fight and was told by them that there is no investigation..I rang other betting bookmarkers and was told they have paid out..I emailed William hill and told them this information they just said has been raised by the sporting body.

Hi BMR sandy

I have contacted William hill every day for the last 3 weeks all customer service say is it's with higher management and I asked for numours people to contact me but no phone call came I get emails off them telling me it's under investigation and this may take some time any time I reply and tell them my findings it's just ignored...they said it's for match fixing the first email I got then this changed to security issue then it changes again to them saying we have raised this with the sporting body.

I don't see that William Hill have any authority whatsoever to investigate whether this fight was fixed or not. If they suspect it was fixed, then they should report their suspicions to the relevant governing body or, failing that, NYPD. In other words, they should put up or pay up and at the moment they don't seem to be doing either.

I agree... to be honest my opinion is I feel like they just want me to go away take my money back and that's the end of that..I have the information..I just want this to be over give me my money I am owed and I will never bet with William hill again.

Ps I have gone to IBAS about it so we see what happens

Hopefully IBAS will find in your favour, as I can't see that William Hill have any legitimate grounds for not paying you. If the governing body concerned has given this fight the all clear, then William Hill should stop stalling and pay up.

There is, unfortunately, evidence on this forum of William Hill doing this sort of thing in the past. I stopped betting with them a long time ago and I certainly don't miss them.

The fight was Michael conlon v Tim Ibra on Saturday the 18th of march...I got in touch with William hill yesterday they said it may take up to several months for it to be compeleted....I don't know if anybody is in the same boat as me...I got in touch with IBAS so let's hope it's sorted soon.

I think this is absolutely disgraceful from William Hill, although I can't say I'm particularly surprised. As far as I am concerned, they have absolutely no right to do this if the fight is not under investigation by any governing body. I don't know how big the bet in question was (although I can't believe they would be behaving like this if it were a small bet), but if IBAS can't help or William Hill still won't pay, then you might have to consider taking WH to court (UK Small Claims Court), even though that may prove to be both time-consuming and potentially quite costly.

I really don't know why William Hill behave like this from time to time, but it does them absolutely no credit and I only hope anyone reading this thread will think twice before betting with them.

Have just watched a video of the fight on YouTube (although I don't bet on boxing, I'm a fan of it). Ibarra took a real beating in the third round and the referee was absolutely right to stop the fight when he did. How anyone can suspect foul play there is a complete mystery to me.

Try to get an email from the sporting body confirming that the fight is not under investigation. Then email William Hill a copy of that.If they still ignore you,go the IBAS route, with that to back you up,or try the link from BMR first.

Sorry,no.If William Hill really do have no reason not to pay out,I'm guessing that they'll be forced to cave. They can't actually ignore IBAS,and IBAS would need some sort of reason to rule in William Hill's favour.
Wouldn't have thought William Hill would want much publicity for this one, unless they really do have a valid reason not to pay.
