What is "wise guy action"?

I was just reading through the Terms of Use at mybookie.ag. I found this:

  • MyBookie does not accept wagers from professional gamblers. We cater to players looking for enhanced gaming experience and we do not allow wise guy action, syndicate players, sharp side movers, or players betting only proposition bets. We reserve the right to limit steam plays and wise guy action. If any of these activities occur, then all winnings will be considered illegitimate and the account will be terminated.

Is this just code for "action from long-term winners"?

I read they have confiscated funds from winning players. Don't have to be long-term winning players.

Allow me to translate:
We don't want action from smart people. We prefer only degenerate gamblers that have no hope of making a withdrawal. If you beat us we might just steal your money if we feel like it.

The sportsbook is run by wannabe mafia thugs. So it makes sense that they would view the world in this way, It's all projection.

If they don't like the fact that you've won money from them, they will just call you a wise guy and confiscate your funds.

Just using the phrase "wise guy" is kind of funny.
Right? The terms of use is essentially a contract between site and user. Can you imagine using "wise guy" to describe something in a contract? I'm not sure that's a proper legal term. Fortunately for them, they are the judge, jury, and executioner.

Exactly. I was thinking it must be gambler talk like "steam", "vig", "nickel/dime", but wasn't sure so that's why I made the thread. I'm gathering from your responses that no other books use this term, lol.

In a way I give credit to mybookie though. At least their terms tell you outright they will steal your money, unlike certain other books...

A professional bettor? a sharp bettor? Though it has a deeper meaning like a sharp bettor that ties with an illegal betting activities. Just proceed at your own risk.

I think their terms used to say something about their site being only for recreation and that they reserved the right to confiscate funds for sharp action. Yes, they actually put that into writing. This is along the same lines.

Dude even the term professional gambler is ambiguous? Is any winning player a professional gambler? Can I be a professional gambler on a 10 year bad swing and be losing? Someone once paid me 10% for a stake in my poker buyin, does that make me a professional gambler?

The beauty is that they get to decide who and when.

What's sick about the whole thing is that there isn't any sports better on the planet who isn't trying to win. And just because someone wins, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're a professional or even a sharp player.

Trust me. I know some people who they've stolen from and attempted to steal from, and they are not professionals or sharp players.

It's noteworthy to me because mybookie has paid sponsors all over the place. It's probably the book I've seen advertised the most other than DK and FD. I think there's a rational assumption that if a book has enough money to blast its ads everywhere, it must be somewhat legit. From what you guys are saying, it seems not to be a good assumption!

Yeah, just the opposite. Their mass marketing is intended to drown out the complaints and replace the small number of people they piss off with a ton of fresh blood, degenerate gamblers who will piss their money away.

You see it all the time. Someone will post a thread in some forum: "MyBookie Is Trying To Steal My Money", and there will be 15 people who reply things like "They've always paid ME." My neighbor is a good guy. He's only raped 2 women on our street and left the others alone.
