"The available UFC odds at Bookmakers Review heavily favor Makhachev, and I’m not taking this bait.

We’re going to witness the two best fighters on the planet step into the octagon, and I believe the over 2.5 rounds is a simple but probable wager.

Each fighter has been stopped inside the distance once, but it’s been eight years for Makhachev and ten years for Volkanovski since we’ve witnessed such an outcome.

Picking the winner isn’t as easy as the oddsmakers suggest; it strictly comes down to Volkanovski’s ability to return to his feet. Because we must be honest, the takedown is inevitable, and he won’t be able to stop it.

But we can’t guarantee that Makhachev can keep him there. "

UFC Pick: Over 2.5 Rounds (-145) [1.45u to win 1u] at BookMaker

Volk has a punchers chance because lets face it UFC is random and he's one of the best strikers on the planet. That's the only way I see him winning though if he's able to scramble and mostly keep this one on the feet. Ultimately, I see Makachev winning because he's the best in the game right now plus he's being trained by one of the greatest of all time in Khabib who might be an even better coach than he was a fighter as hard as that is to believe.

I have it going o2.5 too but not real confident on it. Just don’t know how Volk would approach this fight. I think I would go all out in R1 as the deeper it goes the more likely Mak will win the fight by submission.

Khabib not staying Islam's coach definitely took something away from this fight as well.

we also have to note that volk is trying to conquer another division...he's moving up in weight class so this is going to be a challenge and it isn't always easy. for example, Israel Adesanya. the dude had wicked skill but struggled when he moved up to light heavyweight.

i love volk but i agree with headster, makhachev by submission

I didn't realize he wasn't coaching Islam anymore. Even so Islam was trained very well by the best and that isn't going to change whether or not Khabib is in his corner for this fight. Volk's best chance is still going to be to knock out Islam imo so I'm interested to see how he approaches this fight because I think that if it gets to deep waters that has to favor Islam because of his wrestling advantage.

islam is tough to ko though. makhachev will get clipped i'm sure but he will find a way to bring the fight to the ground eventually

i was watching some pad work with both makhachev and volk

the difference between the two is kinda wild.

makhachev is so patient and powerful with his striking. volkanovski ....man this is why i love the guy..fast with his strikes, high output, cuts sharp angles quickly, just an overall extremely skilled striker thats light on his feet

he looks phenomenal.

but question in store, again, can he survive the up in weight class?

still, deep down rooting for volk, would love to see him win tbh and conquer another division, but makhachev quickly dominated the lightweight division in my eyes. he freaking submitted charles oliveira in the second round lol. oli is a submission artist. volk is not a submission artist.

Makhachev to win inside the distance -130
Makhachev by submission +150
at Betonline

(current odds at BoL: Mak ITD -145, Mak by sub +145)

Yeah, looks like he wants to spend more time with his kids.
