OHIO ST. @ MINNESOTA | 09/02 | 8:00 PM EDT
UNDER 66
ANALYSIS: This spread is wildly high, and I already took Minnesota and the points, but I’m on the Under as well. Ohio State redshirt freshman QB C.J. Stroud makes his debut at Minnesota in front of 50,000 fans. I don’t expect a clean game from him, or from any youngster in that spot. What I see is a Minnesota's massive offensive line with all of its starters returning to open holes for senior RB Mohamed Ibrahim, moving the chains and chewing up the clock. Golden Gophers senior QB Tanner Morgan will manage a good game. The Under is the play.

ANALYSIS: I was waiting for this to get back to 14 jic. Don't think will get higher. Ohio State coach Ryan Day just named CJ Stroud his starting QB. That's fine. Minnesota's Tanner Morgan is one of the best returning QBs in the Big Ten. Same reason why I picked against Alabama in Week 1: The Nuts lost so much talent. Yep, they will rock but will take a while. My boy PJ Fleck (Western Michigan) and the Row The Boats bring back 20 starters and will cover if not pull the upset.

Soccer Side Bet
Game: (225357) Romania at (225358) Iceland
Date/Time: Sep 2 2021 2:45 PM EDT
Play Rating: E units
Play: Romania 0.0 (-110)
Round 4 of the World Cup Qualifiers in Europe and we will take a look at the Iceland vs Romania match on Thursday, September 2nd.
Iceland started the Qualifiers with a 3-0 loss on the road against Germany and then they also lost to Armenia on the road by 2-0. In their most recent match they beat lowly Liechtenstein by 4-1 on the road, but Liechtenstein are notorious for being the punching-bag in qualifier groups. Iceland have lost 7 of their last 8 competitive matches, and 9 of their last 11.
More importantly, Iceland will be missing by far their best player, Gylfi Sigurdsson, who had some serious legal issues.
They will play host to Romania, who beat North Macedonua by 3-2 in the opener, lost to Germany by just 1-0 and to Armenia by 3-2. Romania have a great generation of players who are maturing and are getting a lot of playtime across Europe. Since 2018's UEFA Nations League, Romania have a 10-9-7 record, beating teams like Haaland's Norway and Alaba's Austria among others.
Iceland have never been a very talented squad and their gamestyle is pretty predictable: play hard defense and wait for Sigurdsson to either score or assist. Now that Sigurdsson is gone from the team, there is a huge gap that simply cannot be filled.
Taking Romania Draw no Bet (-110) here.

Note: This bet is also known as Pick'em or +0.0 .

Game: (135) Temple at (136) Rutgers
Date/Time: Sep 2 2021 6:30 PM EDT
Play Rating: E%
Play: Rutgers -13.5 (-110)
#136 E% Rutgers -13.5 Temple 6:30 PM (good to -16, play as 4% -16.5+)
While laying two TD’s with a bad team is not normally a good idea I think it’s an advantage in this spot. I have Rutgers higher than most as this team returns 21 starters from a team that improved greatly in a new HC’s first season. Now Schiano who is a Rutgers legend has a new level of excitement and a full off season to implement schemes. Rutgers offence almost doubled LY and will improve again. There IS excitement and they have a realistic 3-0 start. They recruit against Temple and while the Owls are not as bad as LY with a good number of transfers it will take some time to gel.

Game: (304611) Doosan Bears at (304612) SSG Landers
Date/Time: Sep 2 2021 5:30 AM EDT
Play Rating: C%
Play: 1H SSG Landers Total Under 2.5 (-110)
Choi Won Joon is one of the best home-grown Korean pitchers in the game. In two starts vs SSG he has allowed only one run. His K:BB ration is great and I think the 2.5 is too high for SSG as I have them with 4.1 runs the whole game. Take the SSG team total Under 2.5 for first 5. This is at Pinnacle for -110 now but I would take it for -130.

Play: 1H Doosan Bears -125
Choi Won Joon is one of the best Korean pitchers around with an amazing K:BB rate and he has only allowed 1 run in two starts vs SSG this season. Sam Gaviglio has a really nice start last time out but on the season has an 8+ ERA and 1.71 WHIP. SSG is a huge come back team and despite Doosan having the better bullpen I want to make this a 1st 5 play. At Pinnacle it is 125 now but anything 140 or better is a good play. Take the better SP and better lineup.

The BayStars are hitting well now and despite being bottom feeders have a really nice lineup. Last time they met Kuri they scores 3 in the 1st 5 off of him and 1.5 seems low for a pitcher with a 1.30 WHIP vs this lineup. Bet Yokohama team total Over 1.5 in the 1st 5 it is at Pinnacle for -115 but other places at 125 or 130. Take it. This is a 2% client play.

Yakult has one of the most powerful lineups in Japan and yesterday they got stuffed by Sugano all night. They should come out here with a fire. Yamaguchi has a better reputation that skills and he has allowed 9 runs in his last three starts. He allowed 4 runs in 2 innings last time he faced Yakult. Pinnacle is offering this for +100 but other places it is -110. Take it. Yakult Over 1.5 1st 5.

Play: 1H Yakult Swallows +0.5 (-110)
Yakult has the better SP and a very good lineup. Yamaguchi has struggled vs Yakult recently and giving this powerful lineup any points seems almost unfair. Both lineups have power but the Yakult edge in SP plus the half run is a must play. Take the Swallows on the 1st 5 run line +0.5.

These are two awful starting pitchers each with season WHIPs over 1.70. Hanshin has a great lineup and Chunichi has a great bullpen so I want to eliminate the end of the game and take the first half. My numbers have this total at 4.3 so Over 3.5 is a good bet. Chuncihi has a pathetic lineup so make it a smaller play.

Orix SP Takeyasu is terrible. He has allowed 5 runs in his last 6 innings pitched in relief. Nippon Ham is not a good hitting team but in the last week they are 1st in the league in run scoring and should be able to get 2 in the first 5 here. Take it for -140 or better.

FIFA World Cup European Qualifier

Hungary vs. England (2:45 p.m. ET)

England to win and 2 or more goals in match (-125)

This will be England's first game since losing on penalties in the European Championship final on July 11. Manager Gareth Southgate has called up a strong squad for the trip to Budapest, and England is the clear favorite to secure victory. It has won all three World Cup qualifiers so far, and it boasts a wealth of attacking talent. However, this game will not be easy for the Three Lions. Hungary drew 1-1 with France and 2-2 with Germany in the group stage of the Euros, so England cannot afford to take it lightly. Yet Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka should provide enough firepower for England to secure a narrow victory.

Estonia vs. Belgium (2:45 p.m. ET)

Belgium -2.5 (-175)

Belgium to win and 4 or more goals in match (-125)
Belgium should rack up a heavy victory against Estonia when the teams meet in Tallinn this week. The Estonians are bottom of their qualifying group after losing 6-2 to the Czech Republic and 4-2 to Belarus. That does not bode well for a game against the world's No. 1-ranked team. Belgium will be without playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who is injured, but Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard should tear this poor Estonian defense to shreds.

Italy vs. Bulgaria (2:45 p.m. ET)

Italy -2.5 (-110)

The European champion will bid to extend its unbeaten streak to 35 games when it hosts Bulgaria in Florence on Wednesday. Italy beat the Bulgarians 2-0 on the road in March. It has also secured 2-0 victories over Northern Ireland and Lithuania, leaving the Azzurri at the top of their World Cup qualifying group. Italy rarely concedes, but a win to nil is priced at just -275 for this game, which is not particularly appealing. The handicap line has been set at Italy -2.5. It will be tight, but the Italians should cover it if they play with the sort of intensity they displayed when beating Turkey 3-0 and Switzerland 3-0 at the Euros. They had 22 shots on goal when these teams met in Bulgaria in March, but they were missing star striker Ciro Immobile in that 2-0 victory, so the winning margin could be larger with him leading line this week.

Poland vs. Albania (2:45 p.m.)

Poland to win and 2 or more goals in match (-105)

Poland will aim to get its faltering World Cup qualification bid back on track when it takes on Albania in Warsaw this week. Paolo Sousa's men began with a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Hungary, and then eased to a 3-0 victory over Andorra. However, they lost 2-1 to group leader England in their last game. That left Poland fourth in the table, three points behind Hungary and two points behind Albania. However, it should ultimately have enough quality to seize second place. Playmaker Piotr Zielinksi and forward Krzysztof Piatek look set to miss this game, while Mateusz Klich has tested positive for COVID-19, so he is also out. However, Robert Lewandowski will start up front, and he should fire his team to victory. The Bayern Munich striker has scored three goals in two appearances so far in qualifying, and he should relish the opportunity to play against Albania's defense. Albania has won two of its three games so far, but they came against minnows in Andorra and San Marino, so we cannot read too much into those victories. It is a reasonably good team, but Poland looks superior.

EAST CAROLINA @ APP. ST. | 09/02 | 7:30 PM EDT
APP. ST. -10
ANALYSIS: The talent gap would suggest a larger spread. App State went 9-3 under new coach Shawn Clark last season, with defeats to two teams that ended the season ranked and a third that pushed into and fell out of Top 25. That’s two more wins than coach Mike Houston has managed in two seasons at ECU. The Mountaineers welcome back all but one starter from a stingy defensive unit. The offense was no slouch and will be bolstered by WR Corey Sutton (17 TD receptions in 22 games), who elected to sit out 2020. Overall, App State unleashes 14 starters who returned for a fifth season, courtesy of the NCAA’s COVID-related policy on extending players’ careers.

BOISE ST. @ UCF | 09/02 | 7:00 PM EDT
UCF -5
ANALYSIS: Former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, whose specialty is offense, eagerly accepts a bountiful inheritance. UCF averaged 42.2 points and 568.1 yards per game a year ago, and the entire line plus QB Dillon Gabriel is back for an encore. Additionally, UCF mined the transfer portal successfully. Boise State also wields experience, but its secondary is a shaky area. Malzahn, a proponent of the ground game, figures to mix up the play-calling to keep the Broncos off-balance. Boise travels well, having won three away openers in recent years in the Eastern time zone, but confronting a Malzahn-coached UCF loaded with talent and a near-capacity crowd is a lot to ask.

OHIO ST. @ MINNESOTA | 09/02 | 8:00 PM EDT
MINNESOTA +14
ANALYSIS: I know it's hard to pick against the Buckeyes considering all of their offensive weapons, but this one will be decided on the other side of the ball. Minnesota has an ultra-experienced offensive line and one of the best running backs in the country in Mohamed Ibrahim. The Golden Gophers will grind it out against Ohio State's suspect defensive front to at least keep it interesting in the second half. Don't get me wrong - the Buckeyes will get the win. It'll be ugly, though.

EAST CAROLINA @ APP. ST. | 09/02 | 7:30 PM EDT
OVER 56
ANALYSIS: I will be shocked if this game doesn't go Over the total. App State averaged nearly 34 points per game last year and brings back nearly everyone on offense but its QB -- and has a good transfer taking over there in Duke's Chase Brice. East Carolina averaged 30.2 points a season ago and brings back 10 offensive starters, including QB Holton Ahlers. Defensively, the Pirates were a sieve in 2020 in allowing 35.4 ppg. The total has gone Over in 11 of ECU's last 15 games.

TEMPLE @ RUTGERS | 09/02 | 6:30 PM EDT
RUTGERS -14
ANALYSIS: No value with the number, but I have lots of optimism for Greg Schiano’s second season back at Rutgers. I believe the students and fans do as well and will make home field matter again, like it did in Schiano’s first go-around with the program. He’s got almost everyone back from last season, including all of the starters on offense. Temple has a new transfer QB and five starters back on both sides of the ball from a team that went 1-6 and lost by an average score of 37-19. Experience and depth matter most here. Take Rutgers to cover.
