Why they don't use the same balls?

The ladies were getting seriously hurt going thru the August - Sept US hard court season.

They don't use the same balls at IW, Cin or FM. The ladies ball has less felt and generally plays faster, easing up on the tension created when striking it, relieving stress on the elbow & forearm.

The US Open plays to younger upstarts with bigger serves and heavy ground stroke/ back hand passing game.
