This game should be as exciting as last night.

Servino has been pitching well in his 4 starts since returning Sept 21st from the "tatoo" injury that laid him up for 2 months. In his last outing vs Cleveland he did get dinged up a bit w/ 3 ER over 5.2 innings. The Astros are hitting 0.262 avg (career) against him. 6 Atros batters are hitting 0.250 or better vs Servino with all having DD at bats vs Servino. His last outings vs Houston was in June where he gave up 2 and 3 ER over 6 innings in two games.

Framber Valdez. This guy is consistent. Sure he's had a couple bad outings (late Sept vs BAL and TB) but over the long haul he's been pretty solid. Yankees are hitting 0.208 avg (career) vs him but most have seen limited at bats against him except (Stanton 8 AB, 0.500 avg, Torres 8 AB 0.250 avg, and Trevino 9 AB 0.00 avg).

Astros can hit Servino so I expect him to find the exit first. Since the Astros pen is much stronger than the Yankees IMO, that will only lead to more Astros hits.

The odds are about right on this on at -135 so its not a huge edge but, I think the Astros take game 2 tonight.

As a side note do you think Dusty Baker will consider starting Christian Vazquez over Martin Maldonado?
  • Vazquez 0.364 avg vs Servino w/ 11 AB
  • Maldonado 0.091 vs Servino w/ 11 AB
I realize Maldonado is hgue behind the plate but wow, what a difference in the batters box.

Sorry had to edit the post. I had Maldonado at 0.081 avg vs Servino instead of the correct 0.091 avg. I wouldn't want to misrepresent the guy's performance.

what can you say about the over tank? i'm thinking of taking the over.
Sorry Bubbles. I don't have a good read on the total that would make it play on my card but, I would lean over the 7 if forced to bet. Its more than likely that Servino and NYY pen will give up 4-5+ ERs. Valdez usually is ~3 ER kind of guy so.......

would love to see Vazquez in the lineup today. Astro bats aren't exactly on fire of late so would be nice to get in any potential offensive boost.
