Where were you when you learned of Kobe Bryant's death?

I was in a Hibbett Sports store googling something pertaining to a game that night and it popped up.

It had just happened and I thought it was a fake story so I googled again and a couple more stories popped up and then more and more until it was obvious it was true.

My how have time flies

yeah the two years have really flown by. i was online and saw it posted on a forum or reddit, can't remember which. thought it was a joke or mistake. then went to ESPN and it was on there. rest of the day was spent googling for different articles about it trying to get more info.

Gotta love it how they make it all about Kobe & totally ignore the other 8 people who died. I get it he's the famous one, but if it wasn't for his negligence & absolute disregard for safety this tragedy would’ve never happened if he had simply installed TAWS (Terrain Avoidance and Warning System). Would’ve only cost Kobe 35K: that's 65K less that he was fined for calling a referee a gay slur in 2011.

As I get older, I find it disturbing how we put athletes on pedestals. I feel bad for his wife as no parent should lose their child. He inspired many and earned so much for his charities but come on now, he cheated on his wife and didn't he rape someone? Not the characteristics I want to see in a role model. Just another human with flaws like all of us that was given a special talent.
