For transactional use maybe that would get traction.

But no one is going to be swapping bitcoin for a us govt (or any govt) controlled currency as far as store of wealth use.

A govt sponsored coin would be great for bitcoin hodlers I think. Give crypto 100% credibility across the population.

I think the only reason the U.S. is considering their own crypto is because China will be launching their own digital currency.
It's kind of inevitable the world will move to digital currency.

If a country controls the one business chooses to use for world trade, I'd think that country will enjoy quite a bit of power.

But again, I would be surprised if any govt controlled coin will win out in those serious areas.

Although come to think of it, I could see China and USA trying to enforce usage of their currency for major trade deals.

Which would just add un-needed costs above what a single standard would require.
