One at bat was more impressive and done by another Dodgers player… Kirk “the Gip” Gibson who was unable to run fast for a base hit so had to either hit a homer or walk against the best reliever at the time, Eck, and did it with HR. It was during the World Series and Dodgers won G1 and that one single swing completely destroyed the A’s team.

I hope he opens door for organizations to allow some of these young stud athletes to try to do both. recent high picks like griffin and caglione have the chops to try. but teams have been reluctant to try.
back in the day Mike Hampton , Zambrano, drysdale, spahn, Bob Gibson. coulda played both
