What does everyone think if the navigation on the new "improved" Betfair site? A few bugs for me and not very smooth.

Betfair seem to be very keen on a big push towards the fixed odds section in 2013. Slowly they have pushed out the high turnover traders with premium charges and overall odds have declined in value. I guess the betting exchange does not make enough money for the shareholders.

I guess they will start limiting sharp players, just like a traditional online bookmakers.

I use Betfair every day of the year but have yet to see any sign of a sportsbook (as opposed to exchange markets). This isn't the first time I've heard about it but never thought to ask before. How can I have missed it? Where can I find it? Very confused!

Have you not seen the new look blue site? Maybe as you are based in Australia it is not live yet and the Beta may only be here in the UK.

There is also a promotion specifically for the sportsbook in the UK. I would assume they want to iron out all the bugs before going on a huge push.

No. What's the url? Or is there a link from the main site?
Suspect it's not available in Oz. They'd probably need a new licence to operate as a bookmaker.

Betfair have been pushing the fixed odds for a while. They have also recently very quietly introduced a change to the terms and conditions which says that you can no longer open a 2nd account. It is quite clear from the wording (see http://www.betfair.com/aboutUs/Terms.and.Conditions/ Part B section 2) that this is specifically to prevent people from using multiple accounts to exceed maximum bet limits on the fixed odds.

I rang Betfair, as I have 3 accounts with them for different purposes, and was told by the customer services that they have not been instructed to tell customers to close duplicate accounts, as implied by the T&Cs. They do require a good reason for opening a 2nd account now though, and accounts are linked for the purposes of limits.

As for the new site, I have tried to use it on several occasions and found it unbearable. They have hidden some of the most useful information (in the rules tab) instead of allowing you to load this by default. I have also heard reports of serious bugs, including one which duplicates the win bet if you bet the same horse to win and then to place on the new exchange. Other people who use my website agree with me that the new site is barely useable. I dread the day when they remove the old site, which is apparently going to happen fairly soon, although one of my worried friends was assured that it would be after Cheltenham.

The fixed odds work just like any other bookmaker. They have introduced a raft of offers on these, restricted to specific countries, offering things like money back on certain types of bet if player x scores the first goal, as well as enhanced odds for short periods, and some bet £5 get £5 free offers too.
