Horseracing in the UK will not resume until Wednesday next week at the earliest, following an outbreak of equine flu.
The British Horseracing Authority made the announcement this morning, after suspending horseracing due to three horses testing positive for the disease.
The three horses came from trainer Donald McCain, which all raced after testing positive, leaving other horses vulnerable to the disease.
As a result, there will be no racing at Kempton, Bangor-on-Dee, Southwell and Newcastle today.
A spokesperson from the BHA said: "This precautionary approach is intended to ensure we put the health of the horse population and control of the virus first, and avoid any unnecessary risk that might come from returning to racing too quickly."
