  • Best online sportsbooks

I would be interested to hear your top-5 sportsbooks/exchanges.
    For me:
    1. PinnacleSports
    2. SBOBET
    3. Paddy Power
    4. William Hill
    5. 5dimes

Edited the double entry for SBObet, number 3 in the list is Paddy Power

  • Not sure I understand what you're getting at listing SBO twice G-Man?

    Pinnacle - an obvious choice
SBO - similar if football (soccer) is a major part of your betting
Wm Hill ... hmmm ... my max bet there is $0 so f**k them!
5Dimes ... I won't risk playing at sites that openly take US customers.

    My top 5:
    1. Betfair ... primarily because racing is big for me and Pinnacle don't do it
    2. Matchbook .. beats Pinnacle for me on US sports
    3. Pinnacle
after that there are a few Australian sites which I'd find hard to separate but mostly to service horse racing:
TAB, Tatts, VicBet, Topsport and Unibet

      • I generally only bet on horse racing, so my top choices are only really relevant for horse racing players:

        1. Betdaq
        2. Ladbrokes
        3. Boylesports (more for their range of markets than their odds)
        4. Sportingbet (purely for their odds - range of markets is poor)

Up until recently Blue Square would have easily topped my list.

A couple of 'dark horses' to keep an eye on for the future are Marathonbet and Wilsonbet. Marathonbet would certainly have made my top four were it not for their ridiculously low limits (their odds and range of markets are well above average). Wilsonbet are clearly making a concerted effort to raise their profile as a horse racing book (another big advert in today's Racing Post, now offering best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish racing as well as a rebate on losing accounts on a month-by-month basis). Their range of markets is still very basic, however, and, in my view at least, they would do well to get a new website.

        • @Trevrizent - I think that Wilsonbet is a skin/white-label of Jenningsbet. They have the same site and offering.

@Hareeba - do you use Luxbet in Australia? Are the limits for your Australian books better than in Europe?

          • Yes, G-Man, I'm sure you're right about the connection between Wilsonbet and Jenningsbet (who are on the BMR Red List - hence my comment about Wilsonbet getting a new website). Whether Wilsonbet are a skin in the fullest sense, I'm not so sure. They may well have their own traders and limits (a similar arrangement to that which, so I've read, exists between Boylesports and Apollobet, who, by the way, were also powered by Jenningsbet until recently). Interestingly Wilsonbet now appear to have removed all mention of Jenningsbet from their website.

            • @Trevrizent TGP Group Ltd is actually the new company that manages Jenningsbet white-labels, so Wilsonbet are still powered by Jenningsbet

              • I've put Wilsonbet Under Review, hopefully we can get feedback from enough players and find some definitive information about their deal with Jenningsbet

                • Thanks for doing that, pier0, and for clarifying the TGP issue. The Wilsonbet site certainly looked as if it was still being powered by Jenningsbet, but I was puzzled as to why the phrase 'part of the Jenningsbet group' no longer featured on their homepage.

I did use them and initially they were good but then started to severely limit my sports bets. But when it came to Euro soccer I mostly found their good odds were stale and they simply rejected my bets and trimmed the price! That's just crap bookmaking imho.
About a year ago I got an email to say that I was no longer entitled to any of their promotional offers.
More recently I found them good only for Australian racing. So good that I was doing too well for their liking and they proceeded to close my account!

                    • I am only interested on betting on UK horse racing, so my choices reflect that with the absence of bookies like Pinnacle and SBObet.

                      1. Betfair exchange - the only place I can get a bet on races like the Grand National.
                      2. Bet365 - would have been top if I had not been limited to £30 win
                      3. Paddy Power - still send me free bets on my limited account and do at least give me some opportunity to place them on big events.
                      4. Betdaq - the only other bookie that does UK horses that I can bet at, but I hate the interface.
                      5. Coral, Ladbrokes, William Hill, Betvictor and Jenningsbet all gave me good, reliable service before limiting my accounts to zero.

The best bookmaker for overall honest and reliable service beyond the call of duty, sadly no longer with us, was NPbet (Neville Porter).

I remember Neville Porter. The guy made a big mistake taking his business public. Two weeks after floating on AIM, I seem to remember the UK racecourses announced changes in the way they managed the betting pitches effectively zeroing their value.

Neville Porter could have easily survived as a private company, but as a public company they were already doomed. Few months later they went out of business. Sad story.
