Smartlivegaming.com has had its UK licence suspended by the UK Gambling Commission pending an investigation into its parent company Smart TV Broadcasting Limited. Further information can be found in the following article:

www.igamingbusiness.com/news/smart-live-gaming-owner-has-uk-licence-suspended

A withdrawal request form can be found on Smart Live Gaming's homepage.

I think you're right not to hold your breath, but on the plus side Smart Live Broadcasting hasn't gone bust and they still seem to be operating via their Maltese licence for non-UK customers. The fact that their UK homepage also has a withdrawal request form might not be a bad sign either. Whilst it might just be an attempt to buy some time and fob their customers off for a while, it could also represent a genuine intention to pay up. In any event please let us know how you get on.

Thanks, I'll report back if any news.

No news to report except their automated emails promising to respond to withdrawal requests within 48 hours is not proving to be true. Being ignored is the m.o. for shysters in my experience.

Thanks for the update. I agree that it doesn't look good, but I would give them another week or so before doing anything. Although it's looking increasingly likely that they aren't going to pay, it's just possible that they've simply been deluged with withdrawal requests and are struggling to cope. Now that their situation has become public knowledge, I would guess that every one of their UK customers with funds in their account will have lodged a withdrawal request.

Thanks for your response Trev and I agree. Also imo SML need to take a long term view.
If they deal with uk players poorly over this then they may aswell not bother applying for a UK licence in future. I know I'm stating the obvious but they probably won't be granted one and, if by some miracle they do, the line of uk players wanting to punt will be close to non-existant. Also, the players they have on the books atm under Maltese licencing should be told what type of outfit they are dealing with.

Thinking out loud, I also wonder if SML want to keep hold of the uk funds whilst they appeal and receive a proper UK licence?

I think I would be inclined to sit tight at least until the UKGC has published an update via its website newsletter. It's a difficult one to call because we don't have any real idea exactly why SML's UK licence was suspended. Clearly the UKGC has grounds for suspecting significant wrongdoing, but that could cover any number of things. Obviously I could be wrong, but I don't get the impression that the licence was suspended because of SML not honouring withdrawal requests. When that starts to happen (as with the likes of Canbet and Betbutler), then fora like this are lit up by players' complaints of not being paid. I hadn't noticed anything like that prior to SML's licence being suspended, so there are still grounds for thinking that lack of funds is not the problem here and that you may ultimately get paid when the UKGC concludes its investigation.

I don't know if I'm breaking this forum's rules by mentioning another review site, but there is a thread on Askgamblers that discusses SML and recent events. It seems hopeless that players will receive withdrawals. I've written it off in my mind. Even before the UK licence was suspended this firm had a horrible reputation for non-payment it seems.

The thread link is;
