An ex-top-ranked UFC middleweight in Uriah Hall is scheduled to face former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell as the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the National Football League collide in the ring at this weekend’s Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva showcase boxing event.

If you thought a social media star and Disney channel actor entering his third consecutive fight with former MMA champions was strange, we’re now witnessing ex-professional footballers attempt their luck at competing with legitimate fighters. Can the world of boxing get any weirder?

Le’Veon Bell vs. Uriah Hall

195lb Catchweight Main Card Bout

Saturday, October 29, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at Desert Diamond Arena

Le’Veon Bell

  • Boxing Record: 1-0 (1 KO)
  • Age: 30
  • Born: Reynoldsburg, Ohio
  • Height: 6'1"
  • Reach: 76"
  • Stance: Orthodox

Following the 2013 NFL draft, the three-time Pro Bowler began his career in Pittsburgh for the next five years.

After refusing to re-sign with the Steelers, Le’Veon bell went on to play for the Jets, Chiefs, Ravens, and Buccaneers.

A New World

But it was on September 10, 2022, when Bell put his athletic abilities to the test in an entirely different sport. Scheduled for six rounds against NFL MVP Adrian Peterson, Bell stepped into the squared circle and lived a lifelong dream of competing as a boxer.

A fifth-round TKO has given Bell the confidence to continue his sting in the ring, and he was delighted to sign with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions for the Paul-Silva event in Arizona.

“As soon as MVP approached me about joining the Paul-Silva PPV, I told them, ‘I want in,’ and didn’t care who the opponent was,” Bell told the press. “Uriah Hall will feel my punching power and tap out like he’s getting submitted. He is not built like me.”

Uriah Hall

  • Boxing Record: 0-0, debut
  • Age: 38
  • Born: Spanish Town, Jamaica
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Reach: 79.5"
  • Stance: Orthodox

Bell sounded confident in his press release, but I’m not sure he understands how talented Uriah Hall is.

The former UFC middleweight has fought and defeated two former champions, Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva, and regularly competed against some of the finest mixed martial artists on the planet.

Combat Sports Experience

Bell could have found false confidence from witnessing Jake Paul knockout former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Still, he’s neglecting one key factor; Hall is a striker and an excellent one at that.

With seventeen years of professional MMA experience, Hall owns a massive advantage over his weekend opponent, which is reflected in the bookmakers’ odds.

Unlike Woodley, Hall isn’t known for his wrestling prowess; he’s known for being a violent striker that won 15 of his 17 pro MMA bouts via KO/TKO.

Of course, the ring and the cage aren’t the same, but Hall's head movement and footwork have always been notable skills in his repertoire.

Bell vs. Hall Analysis and Betting Prediction

How Can Le’Veon Bell Beat Uriah Hall?

A one-punch knockout is always a possibility because, sure, it only takes one. However, the odds are literally stacked against Bell because he boasts zero fighting experience against combat sports athletes. Yes, he stopped a fellow NFL star via TKO, but Hall isn’t that guy.

It isn’t easy to gauge any value in Bell’s game, as we’ve only witnessed him compete on one occasion inside the ring. However, I did notice he enjoys pushing the jab, which is fundamental to boxing and proves that he’s still getting to grips with the basics, but he threw it well, at least.

During the Peterson bout, he constantly ducked low to close the distance, but these basic movements aren’t going to fare well versus the experience of Hall.

A positive from Bell’s first and only contest was his ability to use body shots to set up the head strikes, which assisted him in finishing the fight. He’s also an athlete and notably owned a great level of cardio.

How Can Uriah Hall Defeat Le’Veon Bell?

On paper, it should be an easy night for Hall. Experience aside, he owns a more significant reach advantage, and his counterpunching has always been a valued asset. Overall, Hall’s fighting style inside the cage was built on his striking offense, and the 77% finish rate he boasted as an MMA competitor should have the former NFL star staying cautious.

Hall wasn’t perfect by any means, especially during the latter stage of his career. Defense and a low output have been a concern, but the threat of grappling and kicks will be removed to give him time to evaluate these areas of the fight game.

Bell vs. Hall Betting Pick and Odds

The available odds at top-rated sportsbooks are fair, and I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Hall at around -1000. While I wouldn’t personally wager -600 on any straight betting pick, it’s a no-brainer choice and is the most likely outcome this weekend.

At the time of writing, we don’t have a price on Hall to win by decision, but Bell’s athleticism can undoubtedly keep him in this fight until the final round. For that reason, I’ll be waiting for the Hall to win by decision, and fight goes the distance odds to be released.
