Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul
Showtime Exhibition Main Event Bout
Sunday, June 6, 2021 – 8:00 PM ET at Hard Rock Stadium
I genuinely have no idea where to begin as I sip my morning coffee and wonder what happened to the sport of boxing. I’m searching high and low for the words to explain how and why this fight exists – oh yeah, money!
Youtuber Logan Paul is not a boxer by trade; in fact, it’s difficult to call him a boxer at all. A few months back, we were covering his younger brother, which isn’t any more fun than this, but at least Jake Paul accepted his position in the fake boxing world against old and aging athletes who possess minimal striking skills.
Logan Paul believes he can compete with the 50-0 undefeated former undisputed champion, or does he? Let us be realistic; Logan is 0-2, with his sole boxing bouts coming against a fellow Youtuber known as KSI. The Ohio native hasn’t made millions through stupidity; I’ll go on record to say the fight's potential outcome isn’t reflective of his belief towards his boxing prowess but a representation of how much revenue can be garnered.
Logan Paul Boxing Accomplishments
- Absolutely none, zilch, nada, nothing.
“Money Mayweather” hasn’t accomplished the most respectable feats in professional boxing to accept an exhibition bout during his retirement years versus a blonde-haired punk from Youtube and lose – it’s not happening, I’m telling you.
Jokes (but not so much) aside, Mayweather stood with a 50-0 boxing record and was once plastered with all of the boxing gold available. Before the birth of Logan Paul, Mayweather was already a Golden Gloves champion with an amateur record of 84-8. Most known for his defensive attributes, Mayweather has alluded to return punches throughout his amateur and professional career and was initially nicknamed “Pretty Boy” for this reason – you cannot catch the chin of Mayweather; he’s too fast to hit, extremely wise inside the boxing ropes and will go down in history as the most outstanding point fighter to ever exist.
So what is the need for a fight against, well, a nobody? Just refer to Mayweather’s nickname -“Money”. The exhibition fight will remove the judge’s scorecards, but besides that, the rules of a typical boxing contest remain. It’s knockout or bust for Mayweather, and I think he’s content in adding multi-millions to his already impressive portfolio.

How Can Paul Win?
If Mayweather has accepted half a billion dollars to take a fall, or if Mayweather ties both hands behind his back, then I give Logan Paul a great chance of winning.
Top sportsbooks are pricing Logan Paul with more value than what Conor McGregor received, which is complete insanity to me. Of course, Logan will hold a considerable size advantage, but these attributes are insignificant for a man who simply isn’t a boxer.
How Can Mayweather Win?
Turn up, lace his gloves and give 10% of what he knows best.
Boxing relies on fighters understanding how to dictate the centreline, which is the imaginary line that extends from the front of the opponent’s head to yours. Strikes made from the boxing position will generally attack the centreline; anything that crosses the line becomes a colossal target. Mayweather is the master of capitalizing on these centreline mistakes and has perfected the art of distance management. Shifting his weight towards the right foot allows for a fluid head movement that makes him become a challenging target to hit.
Without contact points, the stance in which Mayweather utilizes allows for his infamous shoulder roll technique, which Logan Paul just isn’t going to understand.
I could ramble on the fantastic techniques of Mayweather all day long, but as mentioned, the masterful artist needs just 10% of what he knows to outsmart the low-level fighting IQ of Logan Paul.
Paul vs. Mayweather Betting Odds Advice
The bookmaker's current odds aren’t great, and with this bout becoming an exhibition contest with limited rules – a knockout will be required for a guaranteed win. I’m unsure how this affects the moneyline market, so betting Mayweather inside the distance seems to be the viable option.
