Derek Chisora Analysis

  • Record: 32-12 | 23 KOs

Six years following a 12-round battle with Pulev for the European Heavyweight Title – where he subsequently lost via split decision - British fan-favorite Derek Chisora seeks redemption as he welcomes Pulev into his backyard at O2 Arena.

In the years following his loss to Pulev, Chisora has competed against some of the most notable names in heavyweight boxing, including world title challenger Dillian Whyte on two occasions, title challenger Carlos Takam, the current unified Heavyweight World Champion Oleksandr Usyk, and most recently back-to-back wars with former WBO Champion Joseph Parker.

Chisora is a veteran of the sport and has competed against the who's-who of heavyweight opposition for the past 15 years he's been active in professional competition. Aged 38 years old, he's far from his prime, but the 40+ Pulev could be the ideal opponent for Chisora to snap his 3-fight losing streak.

Kubrat Pulev Analysis

  • Record: 29-2 | 14 KOs

The Bulgarian brute Kubrat Pulev has competed for the world title twice. Although he was unsuccessful in these attempts, his two career losses came against the legend of Wladimir Klitschko and the former unified champ Anthony Joshua.

Pulev should own a confidence advantage, having already defeated Chisora, and with an equally impressive resume as his weekend opponent, the Bulgarian is no stranger to competing on hostile territory.

Following a 17-month layoff away from in-ring action, Pulev most recently returned and delivered a lopsided win over Jerry Forrest, proving there is still fight in the old dog yet.

Chisora vs. Pulev: Fight Breakdown

How Can Chisora Defeat Pulev?

If the first fight is any indication, Chisora must avoid staying on the outside that saw Pulev piece him up in what should have been a unanimous decision despite the recorded split decision victory.

Chisora is known for his walk-down style and aggressive approach, but if Pulev dictates the pace with his jab like in the first fight, it could be a long night for the brit.

How Can Pulev Defeat Chisora?

A carbon copy of his first performances versus Chisora is all the Bulgarian needs, and as the old saying goes, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

If that's the case here, Pulev could easily jab his way to another victory over Chisora, who was defenseless to this game plan during their first meeting.

Chisora vs. Pulev: Betting Pick and Odds

The available odds at the top-rated sportsbooks favor Pulev, which is entirely justifiable when considering Chisora's recent decline.

The British slugger has questionable stamina, and those big overhand rights – whilst working against certain fighters – won't be enough to overcome the intelligent boxing of Pulev.
