Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland

UFC Middleweight Bout

Saturday, July 31, 2021 – 11:05 PM EDT at Apex Centre

Two dangerous strikers in their own right will meet this weekend when Uriah Hall (17-9-0) will defend his #9 ranking versus #11 ranked Sean Strickland (23-3-0). Since his Ultimate Fighter debut in 2012, Uriah Hall has suffered some setbacks but is currently riding the first 4-fight win streak of his UFC tenure.

Some beautiful kickboxing and the ability to fight through diversity has positioned Hall to make a run for title contention as he sits in the UFC middleweight top-ten rankings. After suffering a near-life ending motorcycle accident in 2018, Sean Strickland returned to the octagon and didn’t waste his opportunity to make up for lost time. A 3-fight win streak since October 2020 puts the North Carolina native in this weekends’ main event.

Strickland Path to Victory

Sheer aggression and fundamental boxing skills are the main basis of Strickland’s victories in the UFC. He leaves the opposition little room to breathe by overwhelming them with consistent boxing combinations. An unassuming amount of power in his strikes can sometimes deliver a devastating finish to their attempts, and should Strickland want to finish Uriah Hall this weekend. His greatest path would be to lay on the pressure early.

Hall Path to Victory

Uriah Hall is known to be a slow starter with low output, but when positioned on his back foot, we’ve witnessed countless knockout wins via the tremendous power he owns behind those fists. I don’t give Hall much chance of winning on the judges’ scorecard’s this weekend, but Strickland’s lack of defence could cost him severely with his consistent pressuring when up against a fighter in Hall who loves to counter strike.

Hall owns knockout power in almost every round, despite believing that he could lose this fight by decision. It’s hard to ignore Strickland’s severe carelessness towards taking shots. If not this weekend, sometime soon, the power inside the middleweight division will eventually flatten Sean Strickland and stop his successful run.

Bryan Barberena vs. Jason Witt

UFC Bantamweight Bout

Saturday, July 31, 2021 - 11:05 PM EDT at Apex Centre

Welterweight contenders will clash in the first fight of this weekends main card, and if you want to put your money behind a fighter with no quit, Bryan Barberena is the guy. Fighting our Glory MMA & Fitness, coached by the highly respected James Krause, Jason Witt won’t be short of a great game plan to give Barberena a run for his money, but the lack of experience is a concern.

When your recent four losses in the octagon are against Colby Covington, Leon Edwards, Vincente Luque, and Randy Brown – there is absolutely no shame to be held, but a considerable amount of experience to own. Outside of a refined wrestling offence, Witt has struggled in the stand-up department – an area where Barberena can excel in this Saturday evening. Throughout his seven career losses, Witt has lost all of them inside the distance, and I anticipate this trend to continue. I’ll pick Barberena for my best bets on this one.
