UFC 265 Main Card Prediction

Tecia Torres vs. Angela Hill

UFC Women’s Strawweight Bout

Saturday, August 07, 2021 – 10:05 PM EDT at Toyota Center

A rematch six years in the making, strawweight contenders Tecia Torres and Angela Hill will throw down for the second time during their professional UFC tenures.

During the first encounter, we witnessed Torres dictate the judge’s scorecard through her utilization of a grappling game. Still, with such a significant amount of time between this fight and the first, we have to give Hill credit for an evolved takedown defense.

We cannot guarantee a similar outcome of events. Still, I believe this is the perfect matchup style where Torres’s newfound type of aggression can gift her a third consecutive victory in the octagon.

Hill Path to Victory

Hill will want to avoid giving Torres space to get on the inside, avoid the boxing output she’ll have thrown her way and own the center of the octagon with her Muay Thai striking production at a distance.

Torres Path to Victory

Torres could use the same game plan as their first fight. Still, she should be aware that Hill will certainly be anticipating the takedown, so ensuring her single or double leg attempts are disguised behind combinations is imperative.

Aside from Hill’s advancement in her takedown defense, we have to give Torres credit for her boxing and kicking offense. A level of aggression has been showing a new light in Torres’ point fighting ability.

The Outcome

Despite believing that Hill has leveled up since the first encounter, I still anticipate Tecia Torres to emerge victoriously. Not only has Torres evolved her exceptional skills, but she will also always have the grappling offense to fall back on, should she feel like a stand-up war is going against her.

UFC 265 Co-Main Event Prediction

Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz

UFC Bantamweight Bout

Saturday, August 07, 2021 - 11:05 PM EDT at Toyota Center

Two very well-matched Brazilians will take center stage before the main event of the evening, as former featherweight king Jose Aldo looks to even out his bantamweight record (1-2) by welcoming the aggressive seventh ranked bantamweight Pedro Munhoz.

In a style of clashes, you can’t get much closer than this one – in particular, the leg kicking offense of both fighters is possibly the best the UFC has to offer.

Sportsbooks aren’t taking a risk this week, and the available lines are incredibly close, as we should expect both Munhoz and Aldo to deliver a closely matched three-round battle.

I genuinely believe that Jose Aldo is one of the most elite strikers in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. Still, as we’ve witnessed on countless occasions, he can become victim to a lack of output – particularly as his content draws out of the first round.

Munhoz owns a high-pressure fighter style, much like Aldo, but this will be imperative for Munhoz to get to the punch first and overwhelm Aldo to prevent the speed and incredible technique the former champ possesses. Take it into consideration for your UFC picks.

With all of that said, the betting value is with the fight, potentially reaching the judges’ scorecard. Munhoz does own scary power, but the footwork and head movement of Aldo should keep him in the game for three rounds.
