The Pulse – Baseball’s Back, Tiger’s Not All Talk (Archive)

Originally published on April 8, 2022

Baseball has begun and the NBA wraps up the regular season Sunday. And we have The Masters, NHL action and more to talk about for the second full weekend of April.

About Last Night

It was a wonderful day of baseball to kick-off 2022. The most dramatic outcome was Arizona scoring four times in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-2 stunner over San Diego thanks Seth Beer’s game-winning, three-run homer. It seemed fitting as Thursday was National Beer Day!

The other shocker was the World Series champs Atlanta losing 3-1 to Cincinnati at home as -210 favorites. I guess they miss Freddie Freeman already.

Since we have been talking about Tiger Woods all week, we are definitely impressed he shot one-under par Thursday. Not sure how he will do the rest of the tournament but for a day, it was Tiger’s world again and it was great. He was far better than Brooks Koepka (+2) and Justin Thomas (+4), who were among the Master’s favorites.

NBA

With teams deciding to rest players, the betting odds will be changing all weekend long for the last few days of the regular season. Be sure to review our odds page for updates along with several free picks.

NHL

Boston and Tampa Bay are in the Stanley Cup playoffs, but both are fighting with Toronto to reach the second seed. The winner presses on with the advantage, who will that be?

MLB

We have eight early starts for Friday if you include local times as the second day of the new baseball season continues. Check out all our free MLB picks for games along with a dandy parlay and player props.

The Buzz

For Opening Day, underdogs were 5-2 and UNDER’s were also 5-2. It will be very fascinating to watch how totals shake out the first three weeks of the season, with starters still building up arm strength and the bullpen hurlers being used in back-to-back games and not being used to it with a short spring training.

The Miami Heat locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference when Boston lost to Milwaukee last night. We, like you, are curious about the NBA Playoffs odds and we’ll have them for you on Monday.

The Washington Wizards Twitter account had Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (rest) and Kristaps Porzingis (right knee injury maintenance) out tonight vs. New York and the Wizards went from -1 to +3.5.

NBA bettors have the Cavs/Nets at 85% or higher to be an OVER outcome and the line moved four points higher to 232.5.

Out The Door

For baseball betting, keep looking for those underdogs this weekend, they are a money-maker early.  Also, don’t go crazy for MLB picks. We know more people than we care to admit that blew through a full season bankroll in April. Be smart.

The Masters will be great viewing and for you golf bettors, there are lots of opportunities to cash on head-to-head wagers.

Let’s get some winners! Have a great weekend and see you Monday.
