Rams vs. Buccaneers Free NFL Divisional Round Picks and Odds Breakdown (Archive)

Originally published on January 18, 2022

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers advanced to the second round of playoffs after crushing the Philadelphia Eagles, 31-15 on Sunday. Brady has now spent over a year of his life in playoff mode. The LA Rams did the same to the once upon a time perfect Arizona Cardinals by taking them down 34-11 on Monday night. Can Matthew Stafford keep the Rams alive against the GOAT? Below, we’ll take a look at the early NFL odds and the best sportsbooks to bet with.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Rams entered Wild Card week as 3.5-point favorites and are the road underdogs for this matchup. As for the Buccaneers, they were 7-point favorites last week and are still the favored team heading into round 2 of the playoffs. Tampa Bay opened as just a 2.5-point favorite over the Rams with the Over/Under at 48.6.

The Matchup

What was expected to be a good game turned out to be a blowout instead as the Rams breezed through Kyler Murray and the Cards to advance to the divisional round. The playoff win marked the first for first-year Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who finished the night 13-for-17 with 202 passing yards and two touchdown passes to OBJ and Cooper Kupp. Kupp led LA in the air with five catches for 61 yards, while Beckham had four catches for 54 yards. Sony Michel led the ground game with 58 yards on 13 carries and Cam Akers added another 55 yards on 17 carries. The Rams’ defense also had a standout performance as they let Kyler Murray complete just 19 of 34 passes with 137 passing yards and two interceptions. LA also sacked him twice. The Rams now face a tougher task when they take on Brady and Bucs in a revenge match after losing to them in 2018 during the Super Bowl.

Similar to the Rams, the Buccaneers’ defense was able to keep the Eagles off the board, intercepting Jalen Hurts twice as he completed 23 of 43 passes for 258 yards and a single touchdown. On the other hand, Brady had a perfect game, completing 29-37 passes without an interception and tossed two touchdown passes. Mike Evans was Brady’s top target, catching nine passes for 117 yards with one touchdown. While the Rams will be looking for their Super Bowl revenge, the Bucs will be looking to bounce back from a Week 3 loss when LA outmatched them 34-24. However, that was weeks ago, before the Bucs finished the season as the top-ranked offense. Not to mention that Brady led the 2021 season in both passing yards and touchdowns

The Rams looked incredible on Monday… but it was against a struggling Arizona Cardinals team. Not that the Buccaneers win looked any better, but Brady was able to do that with backup receivers. It just goes to show that it does not matter who you have as passing targets, it’s who you have as a quarterback. If there is a will, there is a way for Brady and he’s not going to let Stafford and the Rams make it any further in the postseason.
