Tampa Bay come into the Honda Center following a four-game winning streak in which they managed to score 19 goals and made a push towards their Florida rivals at the top of the Eastern Division. Meanwhile, the home team here, Anaheim, is in some trouble. They are on a four-game losing streak and only managed to score 7 goals in that period. A lot of their roster is unavailable for tonight’s game, so don’t be surprised when you see some of the NHL odds for this matchup.
Friday, January 21, 2022 – 10.00 PM EST at Honda Center
The only positive Anaheim can take from their previous game was the fact they only lost 2-0 to the Colorado Avalanche. Goaltender John Gibson was on point in that game and stopped 26 of 27 shots. If the Ducks had scored a few goals they might have been in with a chance to win. They now have failed to score for two games in a row and if we exclude the three, they put past the Penguins, they have scored just one goal in three of their past four games.

The situation here is the Ducks are missing, practically, most of their team due to injury or COVID-19 protocol so they would really be causing an upset here if they come out on top against the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions.
The only major players missing for the Lightning tonight is Ondrej Palat and following a string of wins, they find themselves here in Anaheim with a very “easy” spot for them. Tampa Bay have shown us over the past few games why they are back-to-back champions and the return of Nikita Kucherov has been special as he has now racked up 11 points in 6 games.
Andrei Vasilevskiy is set to start in the crease tonight and with a record of 23-6-3 and just 2.2 goals against and it’s not looking good for Anaheim who have scored less than 2 goals per game across their previous 10 NHL outings.

Anaheim Ducks
Tampa Bay Lightning
Moneyline: Tampa Bay are heavily juiced here in tonight’s road game, coming in at odds as low as -235. The Ducks on the other hand are +185 on the moneyline.
Total: Tonight’s total has been set at 6.0 and the over and under are both minus money at the time of writing. The over is coming in at odds of -105 and the under is best priced with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review) at -108.
Puck Line: The Lighting are as low as +110 on the PK line, which holds a small value but is not enough for us to bet it, even though they should cover the spread. The Ducks +1.5 are -130.
The obvious NHL pick here is Tampa Bay, but how do we extract the value from them? Let’s roll with the play that’s cashed for us in our previous two NHL articles and that’s the favorites to win the most periods. We cashed our previous two at +100, but we are only getting -115 on the Lightning to win the most periods.
These odds seem fair considering our assessment has concluded that they should win at least two periods, in fact, we would be surprised if the Ducks managed to win one.
There are some amazing underdog spots in the NHL but we don’t feel this is one of them and even if the Ducks somehow come out on top, the Lightning is the play here. They have scored three or more in 7 of their previous 10 and the Anaheim Ducks are missing their main treat in Troy Terry. Once Tampa don’t feel this is a gimme, they should win this one with relative ease.
NHL Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning Win Most Periods (-115) with The Best Online Sportsbooks.
