The high-flying New Jersey Devils begin their California set of games with a matchup against the NHL’s worst team right now, the Anaheim Ducks.

The Devils come into this game having had the best overall record on the road in the NHL and will be hoping to pick up their 19th road win in their 24 games. Check out why we believe the Devils should cover their PK line spread for tonight’s NHL game.

Golden State residents looking to make some bets can do so at any of these California betting sites.

New Jersey Devils vs. Anaheim Ducks

Friday, January 13, 2023 – 10:00 PM EST at Honda Center

New Jersey Devils Analysis

It’s been a solid first half of the NHL season for the New Jersey Devils as they currently find themselves second in the Metropolitan division and fourth overall in their Eastern Conference. They are almost certainly playoff-bound in 2023.

Up to this point, the Devils have quietly slipped under the radar as one of the highest-scoring teams having had 3.44 goals per game, which is currently the fifth most amount of goals per game in the league. They can also boast of having allowed only 2.63 goals per game, the fourth-best in the NHL.

They have a top-seven penalty Kill unit, although the power play hasn’t been their strong point having only a 20% success rate, which is ranked as the tenth-worst in the NHL. But the Devils came into this road game having had the best overall record whilst on the road this season as they currently sit with a 15-2-1 record.

Anaheim Ducks Analysis

Anaheim comes into tonight’s home game off the back of two heavy defeats on home ice, firstly losing 7-1 to the Boston Bruins and then suffering a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers.

Having allowed the most goals and shots against them this season, the Ducks have struggled to keep themselves in games, winning just 6 of their previous 20, three of those six required overtime victories.

The Ducks have by far the lowest goal difference in the NHL this season as they are currently -79, compared to the second worst team (Columbus Blue Jackets) who have a -59 goal differential.

Devils vs. Ducks Picks and Predictions

The Devils have been a powerhouse on the road this season and have won 18 of their previous 23 road games dating back to last season, of those 18 games they came away with a win they managed to cover the -1.5 PK line a very impressive 72% of the time.

Facing the worst team in the league right now and only having to lay -110 NHL odds we are more than happy to get behind the Devils' -1.5 PK line. The Ducks have failed to cover the +1.5 line in 10 of their previous 13 home defeats and even come into this game having had one day less to prepare than the Devils.

It really is hard to believe this Ducks team has the motivation or talent to cause an upset here, the only likely scenario we can see them winning is if the Devils don’t show up tonight and have one of their worst games this season, although their impressive road record begs to differ.
