The Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders will take on McNeese State in a bottom-tier Southland Conference game. The Islanders ended a five-game losing streak with a win over Northwestern State, 83-76, at home. Now they'll head out to Lake Charles, LA, to take on the Cowboys who have just one win against a top 300 team (via KenPom) this season.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi is currently 261st in KenPom this season. Anyway, they aren't the best shooting team in the nation. The Islanders are only shooting a 46.1 percent effective field goal percentage while hitting under 30 percent from three and 46.7 percent from inside the arc.
However, the Islanders dominate in two areas that should be a game-changer. Texas A&M Corpus Christi has earned 35.5 percent offensive rebounds and continues to get to the foul line at one of the highest rates in college basketball.

The Islanders have scored about a quarter of their points from the line this season, shooting 74.6 percent from the charity stripe. McNeese State and Texas A&M Corpus Christi foul a ton, but only Texas A&M Corpus Christi consistently hits shots from the line.
On the defensive end, McNeese State is allowing a 52.3 percent effective field goal percentage while giving up 29.3 percent offensive rebounds. Teams have shot 35.1 percent from deep and 52 percent from inside this season against McNeese. Plus, of course, McNeese is fouling at a very high rate and sending teams to the line consistently.
Meanwhile, McNeese's offense is a bit similar to Texas A&M Corpus Christi. It's just not as good. The Cowboys are hitting just 32 percent from deep and 48.4 percent from inside but have been able to earn 33.1 percent offensive rebounds while getting to the line at a high rate as well.
McNeese State will earn its offensive rebounds and should get to the line at a high rate as well, however, the Cowboys shoot just 64.2% from the foul line. That's a big difference in comparison to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, which is shooting nearly 75 percent from the line.

The aggressive play is what will lead to fouls, but it'll also lead to turnovers, transition buckets, and fouls going the other way as well.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi has also defended better from the field, allowing an effective field goal percentage of 50.4 percent while holding opponents to 32.6 percent from three and 51.4 percent from inside the arc.
Despite Texas A&M Corpus Christi shooting under 30 percent from three, the Islanders aren't looking to shoot from downtown. They'd rather score inside the arc and fight for second chances throughout the game.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi is a very fast offense, using just 15.6 seconds per possession. They'll try to speed up McNeese and force a lot of mental and physical errors, on both sides of the ball.
