Will Rose Bloom in Canada?
Yes, I believe this week is a great opportunity for Englishman Justin Rose to bloom in the spring of Ontario. With summer approaching in Toronto at Oakdale Country Club, this week is a great opportunity for Justin Rose to bloom for a second time in 2023 after his early-year win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Interestingly, Rose took last week off and missed the Memorial Tournament which maybe could be a blessing in disguise given how tough Muirfield Village played.
Finally, in last year’s Canadian Open, the forty-two-year-old closed with a sparkling round of 60 at St. Georges Golf Course in Etobicoke, down the road, another Stanley Thompson design. Justin Rose has four top 10s in fourteen events this season, so take him in that market along with an outright win at (+2000) at one of our top U.S. betting sites.

Leading Betting Contenders Are All European
With Sam Burns and Cameron Young the two highest-ranked American players, the focus this week at BMR for the winner of the Canadian Open seems to be all European.
Rory McIlroy (+400)
The Northern Irishman goes for a hat-trick of Canadian Opens in succession after winning the last two renewals on either side of the Covid-19 hiatus. There has been palpable encouragement from McIlroy at the Memorial Tournament last week and the PGA Championship before. He looks like a solid favorite this week!
Shane Lowry (+2000)
Fellow Northern Irishman, Shane Lowry like McIlroy has shown a liking for the Canadian Open and any tree-lined course is worth a second look for the former Open champion.
Reading the reviews and looking through the Oakdale Golf Club flyover makes me think that this course could hold similarities with Wentworth, the venue for the European Tour flagship event, the PGA Championship that Lowry won last year.
American Challenge
I cannot remember seeing a weaker representation of United States golf professionals in the main weekly PGA Tour event than this week’s Canadian Open. Yes, the PGA Tour has second-tier events like the Puerto Rico Open but the Canadian version is not one of those, although many are playing in U.S. Open qualifying early this week.
Canadian Challengers
This is a big week for Canadian golf which has never been as strongly represented on the PGA Tour as in current times.
Corey Conners (+1600)
The Texas Open champion leads the home challenge. Conners was in the thick of contention for the opening three days at the PGA Championship but his game fell apart in the final round.
His fellow compatriots, Adam Svensson, Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin, and Taylor Pendrith will all fancy their chances of being the first home champion. Amazingly, Mike Weir was the closest to that achievement in 2004 when runner-up to Vijay Singh.
Aaron Cockerill (+17500)
Aaron Cockerill has the potential to be an interesting sleeper in his home Open having been in career-best form over on the European Tour. Interestingly, the thirty-one-year-old from Teulon performed well at last year’s renewal when finishing 48th.
I will be checking out Aaron Cockerill’s price in this week's props markets, top 20, first-round leader, and Top Canadian all have potential.
Sleeper
Brandt Snedeker (+20000)
Brandt Snedeker made a strong return to action from injury last week at the Memorial Tournament. His injury was an unusual one, and required sternum surgery last week was his first week back playing since last year’s Fortinet Championship in September.
If there are no ill effects this week, notoriously Snedeker plays well in Canada over the years, winning the title in 2013 which marks him out as an interesting sleeper pick in the props markets.
