UFC Women’s Featherweight Main Card Bout
Saturday, November 13, 2021 – 04:00 PM EST at UFC Apex Center
It’s no secret that the UFC women’s featherweight division is a shallow talent pool, and the promotion has continuously struggled to find viable competition for Amanda Nunes. However, Canada’s own, Felicia Spencer, was fast-tracked into title contention following her dominant reign when fighting for Invicta FC.
Since losing to Nunes, Spencer has failed to jump back into the win column with a close split decision loss to Norma Dumont back in May of this year. But despite this downward trend, we cannot ignore the elite level grappling/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skillset that she possesses.
Spencer began in the journey into mixed martial arts when attending Taekwondo classes during her childhood years; an appetite for combat eventually led the Canadian-born athlete onto the Jiu-Jitsu mats – aged just twelve.
With Taekwondo and BJJ black belts amongst her arsenal, an eagerness to supplement her skillset with a striking tool saw Spencer make kickboxing additions to her game. Naturally, with countless martial arts experiences, a move to Jungle MMA in Florida created the mixed martial artist we know today.

Spencer owned an unblemished 7-0 professional record before signing with the UFC, but as mentioned, a shallow division forced Spencer to compete against the most elite level of competition.
Discrediting her resume over losses against two of the most remarkable women’s fighters in history (Nunes & Cyborg) doesn’t reflect how talented she is.
Spencer’s primarily a wrestler who owns excellent advantages as a positional grappler, often finding it simple when transitioning to dominant positions on the ground. Her stand-up is still evolving, but her footwork and movement are notable reasons why she hasn’t been finished via a knockout or technical stoppage.
Although Letson should own the more significant striking offense, Spencer has now collected the experience of competing against the most elite strikers, and she’ll know precisely how to nullify her opponent’s incoming attacks.
The game plan is simple, drag Letson onto the ground. Spencer will drown Letson with her transitional work when these deep waters are presented and shouldn’t find it challenging to deliver a ground and pound or submission finish.
