Rodriguez and Dern Steal the FOTN Honors in the UFC Vegas 39

The women’s strawweight division took center stage on Saturday afternoon, and they did not disappoint! Brazil’s own Marina Rodriguez and the former number one Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in the world, Mackenzie Dern, captured the Fight of the Night honors for their intense five-round battle.

Rodriguez took a unanimous decision through the utilization of her well-versed striking offense. Both women walked home with an extra $50,000, which marked a total of six bonuses obtained from their respective UFC careers.

Who Runs the World? Girls!

Beyonce said it best, “who runs the world? Girls!”. And this couldn’t have been truer this weekend in Las Vegas, as an all-women slate of bonus awards was handed out. The main event between Rodriguez and Dern capped off an eventful night for the women competing at UFC in Vegas 39, where rising stars Lupita Godinez and Mariya Agapova cashed in $50k Performance of the Night bonuses.

It was also a Jiu-Jitsu masterclass on behalf of Godinez and Agapova, who won their contests via armbar and rear-naked choke submissions, respectively.

The UFC returns to the Apex Center in Las Vegas this weekend for UFC in Vegas 40. Where the women of the UFC will shine in the spotlight yet again, this time around, the UFC will showcase their women’s featherweight division when Norma Dumont takes on the returning Aspen Ladd.
