UFC Featherweight Main Event Bout
Saturday, June 19, 2021 – 11:35 PM EDT at the Apex Centre
In the main event of the evening, featherweight contenders, the "Korean Zombie" and Dan Ige, should deliver a Fight of the Night performance, as both martial artists have great pace and power. Chan Sung Jung, better known as the "Korean Zombie", has delivered some of the most memorable fights in UFC history. Nine fights inside the UFC octagon since 2011, and Jung has only succumbed to the judge’s scorecard on one occasion.
The South Korean native is often overlooked during his contests, but you’ll never witness a lacklustre performance even though he losses. During his UFC tenure, his layoffs and inactivity came through mandatory military service, which is a massive shame because this has hindered the experience he could have gained. "50k" Dan Ige had steadily risen through the UFC rankings since his debut back in 2018; a 7-2 record in the previous three years has already matched the in-octagon fight experience that Jung has gained in a decade.
Ige is an excellent all-around fighter and has often proved that his fight intelligence is a perfect tool at his disposal. Taking decision victories over dangerous and physical opponents is evidence of this. Jung won just one fight by decision in fourteen years of professional contests, so Ige will be confident that out-scoring the Zombie should reach the championship rounds is doable.
Jung is a head-hunter, a limb breaker, the type of fighter who wants to make his opponents tap out or get knocked out. Although the experience is levelled out across each fighter’s respective contests competed in over the years, Jung has undoubtedly fought the higher level of competition. With that said, I favour the "Korean Zombie" to do what he does best, go to war.
With a size advantage, a solid chin, and a screaming crowd egging him on, I anticipate the forward pressure of Dan Ige to fall victim to the power of Jung. Jung relies on his opponent stepping into his range, and Dan Ige often likes to pressure his opponents. The more diminutive stature of Ige will also play into the need of getting into said range, a range that becomes an instant war zone for all opposition that is smaller than Jung. Those who have defeated Jung can strike him from the outside, something that Dan Ige will not accomplish.

UFC Heavyweight Bout
Saturday, June 19, 2021 - 11:35 PM EDT the Apex Centre
In the co-main event, big-bodied sluggers of the heavyweight division will deliver brute force that fans and critics alike can always appreciate. Spivak, aged just 26, seems to be evolving into a complete fighter. Early career losses to Walt Harris and Marcin Tybura were nothing other than learning curves for the young heavyweight, which he’s soon turned around into a two-fight winning streak.
Aleksei Olynyk is a Russian legend in mixed martial arts and is one of the most prominent submission finishers the heavyweight division has ever seen. His striking offence has a lot to be desired and aged 43, the grappling legend is undoubtedly slowing down his overall offence. We’re presented with a cliché striker versus grappler matchup, which will deliver exactly what it says on the tin – Oliynyk attempting to grapple and Spivak wanting to strike. You don’t have to think outside the box to realise this contest is more than likely to end inside the distance.
Both men have provided rare appearances on the judge’s scorecard, and I anticipate the younger, hard-hitting striker to put Oliynyk out of his misery within the first ten minutes. With that said, Oliynyk’s dangerous ground game can always provide some shock results, so taking this fight to avoid reaching the 3rd round seems like a valuable betting approach, in my opinion.
