Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori

UFC Middleweight Championship Bout

Saturday, June 12, 2021 – 11:35 PM EDT at the Gila River Arena

Can Marvin Vettori become the first-ever Italian born UFC champion? This Saturday night, we’ll find out when "The Italian Dream" takes on the current undefeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

It won’t be the first time these two men have met; before their championship fighting status, they clashed in a 3-round war back in 2018 – with Adesanya taking the result. Three years later, Adesanya has dominated his way through the division to become the titleholder, and Vettori hasn’t been too far behind him.

Vettori moved to Kings MMA in California and has found great success in elevating his game ever since. The likes of Rafael Cordeiro have plucked the weaknesses in Vettori’s striking offence to deliver a 2.0 version in the stand-up.

Mark Munoz and Markus Mollica can be thanked for refining Vettori’s wrestling game, which has been a massive advantage for him during previous bouts.

Unfortunately for Vettori, he will be facing Adesanya, who is undefeated at middleweight and currently one of the greatest offensive strikers on the UFC roster. His ability to manage the distance between himself and the opponent is elite.

Along with a matrix-esque style of head movements and faints, "The Last Stylebender" could remain a champion for many years to come.

With that said, the key attribute that stands out to me is the durability of both men. Should either man’s preferred game plan play out, I doubt they’ll be able to finish the fight inside the distance.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno

UFC Flyweight Bout

Saturday, June 12, 2021 - 11:35 PM EDT at the Gila River Arena

In the co-main event, we are gifted with the worlds two greatest flyweight competitors going head-to-head for a second time consecutively.

These two athletes gave us a fight of the year contender matchup for twenty-five minutes, which resulted in a draw. To witness the heavily juiced odds of -240 isn’t making sense, considering neither fighter won the first contest.

During their first encounter, Brandon Moreno proved the doubters wrong; handling the power of Figueiredo is one thing; to do it across all five rounds is another. Mentally focused, excellent takedowns, and extreme durability was enough for Moreno to equal the skillset of Figueiredo.

Solid jabs, heavy body shots, and many significant strikes were sufficient for Figueiredo to equal Moreno on the scorecards.

How will the second fight play out? It’s hard to judge, but one factor we guarantee is that it’ll be one of the most entertaining fights on this weekends card. Moreno caught up on the judge’s scorecard into the championship rounds, so Figueiredo will want to improve his cardio this time around.

Moreno’s solid durability and the relentless pressure of Figueiredo give me another incline that the second encounter will lead to another judge’s decision.
