Teams on Upset Alert in NFL Week 7 (Archive)

Originally published on October 23, 2021

We’re headed to Week 7 to look for more potential upsets in the NFL. Here are two that could help you earn some money this weekend so let’s get into the NFL odds.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans

Sunday, October 24, 2021 – 01:00 PM EDT at Nissan Stadium

The Chiefs have been a huge disappointment this year. While the offense is averaging 30.8 points per game, the defense is giving up 29.3 points per game. The Titans’ offense is healthy again, at least at the playmaking spots. Julio Jones, AJ Brown and Derrick Henry helped knock off the Buffalo Bills last week and now get a home game against the Chiefs as home underdogs by more than three points.

The Chiefs have been abysmal stopping the run this season and have been no good in coverage, with their pass rush. Simply put, the Chiefs’ defense can’t get stops against good offenses. Tennessee is going to fit the bill as one of the best offenses in football by the time the season ends. They’ve got all the talent in the world and the offense proved it against a very good Buffalo Bills defense.

The Titans have struggled in pass protection, but as I said earlier, there’s so much playmaking for this Titans team and it’ll start with the running game and evolve into the passing game. On the other hand, the Titans will have trouble getting stops on the defensive end. While they’ve been much better than the Chiefs, the defense will allow big plays.

The Chiefs can burn any defense down the field and you can expect that in this game. This game will be an absolute shootout but if the Titans have the ball last, there’s potential they will pick up an upset win after all.

Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, October 24, 2021 - 08:20 PM EDT at Levi’s Stadium

The Colts smacked the Houston Texans last week with the return of T.Y. Hilton. The offense is going to be so much better as the season progresses for this team. Add on the fact that all-pro guard Quenton Nelson will likely return this week and the Colts are in business.

At this moment, we don’t know who will start for the 49ers between Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. Lance is out with an injury while Garoppolo is practicing. Either way, neither quarterback has done much of anything offensively to help this team win games. The Colts have been awful in coverage this year but have been dominant against the run.

The 49ers have always loved to run the football and that could push them to a bunch of thirds and longs against this Colts team. The Colts will eventually get some stops and be able to force a couple of 49ers’ punts in those situations.

Meanwhile, the 49ers really haven’t been great defensively, giving up just under 350 yards per game. The Colts, who might be without Paris Campbell, still have so many weapons and a healthy Carson Wentz. Take the Colts for the primetime Sunday night game for your NFL pick.
