NHL Best Bets for December 1 (Archive)

Hello out there, we’re on the internet and it’s hockey night tonight! So let’s break down some NHL odds for tonight and boogie away.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers

Wednesday, December 01, 2021 – 07:00 PM EST at Madison Square Garden

After the New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights made me feel like the smartest boy in all the world, we return again to see if I can make you more money!

We’ve got a lot of interesting matchups tonight, but we’re gonna start where we started last week as the New York Rangers are hitting the ice against the Philadelphia Flyers.

I love rivalry games, especially when it’s between a team I love (Rangers) and a team I loathe (Flyers). And while I love Gritty, I do not love most of the lines set for tonight’s game from BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review) , sure they make sense… but I would avoid them.

The only thing I would NOT avoid in this game is the over six goals (+106), because the Rangers in their most recent three wins have averaged 4.7 GPG and on the Flyers most recent six-game losing streak have given up an average of 4.3 GPG and the Rangers have yet to have a shutout this season.

Per ESPN, they’ve given up 2.70 GAG so far this season, so the potential for falderal and hitting that sweet, sweet line is right there for the taking.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Wednesday, December 01, 2021 - 07:30 PM EST at Scotiabank Arena

And we’re staying in the eastern conference as the second in the Atlantic Division, the Toronto Maple Leafs, are in action against the Colorado Avalanche, who’ve won seven of their last eight in a truly impressive fashion, scoring more than four goals in every game they’ve won in that span.

On the other side of the ice, the Maple Leafs have won nine of their last ten and while they haven’t scored more than three goals in a loss this year, the Leafs are 8th in the NHL in Power Play and the Avalanche are 27th in penalty killing this year.

If you’re looking at this game and you’re like “OOOH I WANNA BET ON IT,” you have two different options you can go for.

The first is to bet on the over 6 goals and set at +102, which is a solid number when you look at an increased scoring this year, the Avalanche giving up more than one goal in all but one game in their current winning streak and scoring anywhere from 4-7 goals a game in the same span.

You also have Toronto which have decimated defenses and while they’ve been stingy on defense this year, Colorado’s young core features three players with over 20 points on the season and may be able to go stride for stride with the Maple Leafs tonight.

That leads me to my second pick, taking the Avs straight up on the moneyline. Both teams are playing a hot hand and with the Maple Leafs recovering from a four-game cross-continent road trip, the opportunity for the Avs to steal a win and pump the breaks on the Leafs’ dominant run is on the table.

Per BetOnline, the Avalanche are +108, which is not a bad bet if you can get it.

Go forth, make your selections and if I’m right, you’re welcome. If I’m wrong, please bury me 20 feet deep on Twitter @MRyanConsulting!
