If you’ve stumbled onto this weekly column by chance, just know it’s all sunshine and roses in Lollipop Land. Don’t peek behind the curtain and notice my season record; it’s all an illusion.
Now, for those of you faithful readers who have gotten cleaned by my NFL picks this year, by continuing to visit, I can only assume you have a penchant for a swift kick to the groin or welcome the opportunity to become a human ashtray, breathlessly awaiting the burning ember of a Marlboro Light to scorch your naked skin.
Yup, it’s been rough, and my streak of sheer futility did not end last week when we went 1-2 against the number with 5 units circling the drain on the Rams, who couldn’t even win, let alone cover, the 10-point impost against Carolina, while the Giants did what the Giants do and lost badly to the Patriots, never even sniffing a cover as 7 ½ point home hounds.
However, the Saints fortunately covered against the Dolphins for three units, which produced another losing week of -7.1 units. And for those who are fading me, congratulations. But to those who advise me to fade myself and reverse my picks, it doesn’t work that way. Only you can fade me; I can’t fade myself.
So, with that, we struggle mightily into Week 14, hoping something breaks. If you want to check out BMR’s proprietary algorithm, this week’s best NFL picks are available as well.
Let’s get to our NFL picks Week 14 and hope for the best.
Swinger’s 2025 NFL Record: 15-26 ATS (-52.40 units using a 1-to-5-unit system) @SwingeratBMR
NFL Picks Week 14 At-a-Glance
This week’s NFL picks will hopefully pick up some desperately needed units. We are mired in the muck of our worst season in the dozen years that I’ve been writing this column. My NFL picks for Week 14 are focused on avoiding another sharp stick in the eye because right now, I’m practically blind.
The Ravens, Seahawks, and Jaguars are on my hit parade this week, and we need a sweep like a fat guy wants a buffet.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens (-5)
Sunday, December 7 – 1:00 PM ET
At age 42, Aaron Rodgers is the Grandpa Moses of the NFL. I can easily see him thrusting his fist in the air and telling those young whippersnappers to get off his immaculately manicured lawn at whatever estate he currently resides.
Consider that he threw for only 116 yards against the Bengals in Week 11, followed by a putrid performance last week against the Bills when Rodgers completed just 10-of-21 for 117 yards and no TDs against the Bills in a 26-7 loss.
Now he must face a divisional rival smelling blood when he meets the Ravens. Speaking of which, Baltimore is coming off a humiliating 32-14 loss to the Bengals. Look, Lamar Jackson has not been right all year, but this game is the ideal opportunity for his team to win and cover, as they have in their last two meetings with the Steelers.
The Baltimore Ravens will soar on Sunday, so let’s lay it and like it.
Expert Pick: Baltimore Ravens -5 (-120) for 3 units at Bookmaker
Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons (+7)
Sunday, December 7 – 1:00 PM ET
Believe it or not, my NFL futures are doing well. Those bets I made in the preseason have nothing to do with the inane ramblings of the broken man I am now. However, one team I couldn’t have been more bullish on was the Falcons, and we all see how that turned out. I’m not a big proponent of laying the blame at the feet of the head coach, but this team has too much talent to be this bad. Raheem Morris has got to go.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are eating opponents for dinner. Seattle has won and covered in six of their last seven games, and there is no indication that they will do anything but continue that streak against this stumbling, bumbling Falcons squad. The Seahawks throttled the Falcons last year, 34-14, as three-point road dogs and will do so again on Sunday as seven-point favorites.
Back the Seahawks on Sunday and lay the touchdown.
Expert Pick: Seattle Seahawks -7 (-104) for 4 units at Bookmaker
Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (+2)
Sunday, December 7 – 1:00 PM ET
The Colts are faltering at the wrong time. Daniel Jones is regressing to the mean, and he’s injured (fractured leg). The Colts have dropped three of their last four games and cannot buy a win. The offense appears to be a shell of its former high-flying self.
However, the Jags are on a different trajectory as they keep stacking wins with aplomb. Jacksonville has won and covered three of their last four contests, including a dominating 25-3 victory over Tennessee last week.
Trevor Lawrence has been good, albeit unspectacular, but the addition of Jakobi Meyers has been a godsend for this offense. The 29-year-old veteran has developed chemistry with Lawrence and snagged all six targets last week for 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Let’s grab the deuce and bet the Jags.
Expert Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars +2 (-115) for 3 units at Bovada
The Woodman’s Picks (10-3 ATS)
Hey, if there has been one lone ray of sunshine, it emanates from my colleague, the Woodman. While I am endeavoring to put together some semblance of a winning week, my man from parts unknown just keeps firing and covering.
Last week, the Woodman took the Bears as 7-point dogs and wound up with another winner, not just a cover, but a moneyline winner as Chicago shocked the Eagles on Friday night en route to a 24-15 victory.
He’s going back to the same well and advising all who will listen to bet the farm on the Chicago Bears again as they tangle with the Packers as 6 ½ point road dogs.
The Woodman’s Week 14 NFL Pick: Bears +6.5 (-105) at BetOnline
