The Grizzlies have dominated the Southwest Division over the last couple of seasons. Is it time for another team to take over the Southwest in this year’s NBA season?

The Southwest Division in the NBA is stacked with a ton of young talent. The Memphis Grizzlies have been the best team for developing that young talent. However, the division is growing as a whole, with other teams’ new additions.
Let’s talk about the Southwest Division in the NBA. I’ve got a best bet for the division winner and win totals bets for each team in the Southwest.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies won’t have Ja Morant to begin the season. But the new addition of Marcus Smart should help keep things calm.
Smart will be paired with Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Steven Adams. For that fifth spot, they’ve got a lot of different options, including Ziaire Williams, Brandon Clarke, or Luke Kennard.
I still love the Memphis bench and think the bench competes with any team’s depth in the NBA.
When Morant is back, it’ll be Morant, Smart, Bane, Jackson, and Adams. That’s quality. Take the Over.

Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks couldn’t figure it out last year with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Therefore, I’m not sure I believe in this duo this year.
Adding Grant Williams was fun, and Tim Hardaway Jr. should be a solid player. Dallas also added a project in Dereck Lively II. Lively II won’t win the NBA Rookie of the Year, but he’s got plenty of potential. However, that potential might not bloom this season.
I’ll take the Under at the top sportsbooks.

New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans added Jordan Hawkins in the draft, along with E.J. Liddell. Those two will have to help out a roster that looks appealing if everyone stays healthy.
But health is the issue why the Pelicans have struggled recently. Zion Williamson should return and be productive. Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum are two other stars that should dominate this year.
The depth of this team needs to be improved. Those rookies mentioned above will need to play at a high level. But if everyone can stay healthy and the rookies can develop, Over 44.5 wins are in sight.

Houston Rockets
The Rockets might be the most improved team this year. I’m hoping to get on the bandwagon. Houston’s starting lineup will feature Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Jabari Smith Jr., and Alperen Sengun.
They’ve got Amen Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Victor Oladipo, Reggie Bullock, Tari Eason, and so many other great players off the bench.
With Ime Udoka as coach, I predict the Rockets will have a sensational year. They might not reach the Grizzlies, but they’ll get Over 31.5 wins.

San Antonio Spurs
I’ve loved watching Victor Wembanyama in the NBA preseason. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson are two bonafide scorers who can help face the Spurs.
But the moment that Wembanyama gets into foul trouble is when the Spurs will lose leads and games.
I’m not sold on the Spurs, despite having Wembanyama on the roster. I’ll take the Under.

Southwest Division Winner
The Southwest has really improved this season. The Grizzlies made a move knowing Morant would be out for some time. Meanwhile, the Mavericks have their eyes set on an NBA Championship with two of the best players in the NBA.
The Pelicans just need to stay healthy for them to make a splash, while the Rockets look like they could be the NBA’s most improved team this year.
Finally, the Spurs have Victor Wembanyama, who makes dunks from the three-point line and throws down hook shots like they’re close dunks.
This is going to be a fun season in the Southwest. But let’s not get it twisted. The Grizzlies have been dominating the league for multiple years. That won’t change this year.
Give me the Grizzlies to win the division at +140 betting odds. I don’t think the Rockets will catch up to the Grizzlies, and I believe the Mavericks’ tank job last year will come back to bite them this year.
