This year’s Big Dance has been a Cinderella story for more than a few teams and a tale of horror for the elite. The highest seed remaining is UConn at No. 4 while San Diego State (#5), Miami-Florida (#5), and Florida Atlantic (#9) are also left standing in what has truly been one of the most stunning tournaments in the history of college basketball.
Let’s check out the college basketball Final Four odds and get educated so we have a better chance at cashing our NCAA basketball picks.

The lowest seeds ever to advance to the Final Four were all No. 11 seeds and they were: LSU in 1986, George Mason in 2006, VCU in 2011, Loyola Chicago in 2018, and UCLA in 2021. None of those teams ever made it to the championship game.
However, in 1985, Rollie Massimino took his Villanova Wildcats to the promised land with a 66-64 victory over top-seeded Georgetown. That unlikely event occurred - appropriately enough - on April Fool’s Day, but it was no joke as the Wildcats cut down the nets and made history.
Therefore, should Florida Atlantic follow in Villanova’s footsteps they would be the lowest seed in history to be the last ones dancing at the Big Dance.
