La Liga Matchday 26 Top Betting Picks (Archive)

Originally published on February 25, 2022

Matchday 26 is upon us in the Spanish La Liga and this week we are feeling confident about our soccer picks, we have found some nice value and are confident we can turn a profit with this weekend’s card.

We have two derby matches lined up for you guys in this week’s plays so let’s get into our La Liga picks.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Madrid CF

Saturday, February 26, 2022 – 12:30 PM EST at Estadio de Vallecas

Runaway league leaders Real Madrid will make the short journey across the capital to face their “little brother” Vallecano. Rayo has always been in the shadow of Madrid, but in the previous two games held on home soil, they have managed to fare well with a 3-2 loss and a 1-0 win.

Madrid should look to come into this game wary of their opponents who at one stage were in a fight for a possible top 6 finish but, having picked up just 1 point from a possible 18 in their previous 6 games without a win in the league, Rayo has plummeted down the table and currently sits in 11th position, a whopping 36 points behind the league leaders.

It’s a stretch to believe Rayo can pull off an upset here given their poor run of form, but with their back up against the wall who knows how this game will play out. Madrid is going throw some choppy waters themselves having just picked up 2 wins from their previous 6 in all competitions.

We cannot believe the value on both teams to see over 1.5 cards here at +100 with one of the best sportsbooks. It’s a derby game and both teams are badly looking to win. Although just 4 of the previous 10 games seen this bet cash, many were Madrid blowout wins which usually doesn’t result in cards, we can’t see this Madrid team having a blowout win in this fixture.

Sevilla FC vs. Real Betis Balompié

Sunday, February 27, 2022 - 10:15 AM EST at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán

Our second derby to take place in Spain this weekend is known as the ‘Great Derby’ between two teams from the south of Spain in Sevilla and Betis. This will be the 127th meeting between these two fierce rivals.

Cards were the initial look here but seeing as the line was set at 6.5 at -120, it doesn’t hold much value, I mean, it's most likely a winner, especially with Del Cerro as the referee who averages the 4th most amount of cards per game in La Liga at 5.83, and 0.25 red cards per game.

Betis have been impressive thus far this season and find themselves just 5 points behind 2nd place Sevilla. It has to be said the home team is fighting in the Europa League also and they did play on Thursday so we know they will most likely take a draw in this fixture.

As much as any team likes to beat their rivals, sometimes you have to be realistic, and Sevilla is missing 5 players coming into this game and have drawn 4 of their previous 5 league games. A draw would still keep Betis at arm’s length.

Interestingly Betis has won their previous 5 away games and when playing on the road to Sevilla they have not tied in the previous 13 visits, a 0-0 in 2007 was the last time these teams ended with a point for each other.

You know where we are going here, take the draw at +225, and if you must bet either team to win, go with the team who are hotter right now and the best value in Betis at +250.

Soccer Pick: Draw (+225) at BetOnline

FC Barcelona vs. Athletic Club

Sunday, February 27, 2022 - 03:00 PM EST at Camp Nou

We are looking at a Barcelona team total in this fixture and we are getting La Liga odds of -130 for the Catalans to score twice on home soil. These odds might be minus money but value-wise we are getting a steal in our opinion as we expected their team total over 1.5 to be in around -200.

Barcelona has hit 2+ goals in 7 of their previous 10 games and showed a vulgar display of dominance on Thursday night when they beat Napoli 4-2, arguably they could have scored 6/7 goals in that game.

Bilbao has been able to limit their opponents to just 8 goals in their 13 away games this season, which is no doubt the main reason we are getting good odds on Barcelona to score twice, but after seeing Barcelona recently we can’t bet their total over as they are playing some amazing attacking soccer and Bilbao should be in for a very difficult game.

These teams met just over a month ago in the cup and Bilbao knocked out Barcelona in an epic 3-2 win. The Catalans will be out for revenge.

Soccer Pick: Barcelona TTO 1.5 Goals (-130) at BetOnline
