The rivalry between the Giants and Cardinals spans three centuries, and the hype is only increased holding Thursday’s contest where Willie Mays broke into professional baseball following the sad news of Say Hey’s passing this week.
Young Hurlers in Spotlight on Mound
It’s not exactly a barnburner of a pitching matchup as Keaton Winn (3-7, 6.66) takes the mound for San Francisco while St. Louis opts for Andre Pallante (2-3, 4.61), but there are some competitive lines with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review) favoring the Cardinals on a -116 moneyline.
Winn’s devilish ERA has more than doubled since the end of April, and the result has been San Francisco in each of his five starts across May and June. This will be his first look at the Cardinals since making his MLB debut against them last June.
This will be Pallante’s fifth consecutive start since beginning the year in the St. Louis bullpen, and his only experience against the Giants has also come in relief outings.
