Following a less than perfect 2020/21 Ligue 1 season, newly appointed coach Vladimir Perkobvic will be hoping his role as Bordeaux manager will fair better than his predecessor. The former Switzerland boss put his tactical skills on display when his team knocked out France, the Euro 2020 favourites.
Clermont will make their Ligue 1 debut versus a team who attempted to steal their star striker from last season, Mohamed Bayo. He netted twenty-two goals last season, but Bordeaux’s six-million-euro offer wasn’t enough to shy the dangerous striker from his position at Clermont.
The initial matchdays in domestic competition can be hard to predict; without knowing how the managers and players perform, it can become a guessing game. With that said, pre-season and warmup friendly matches have provided nothing but goals for both teams.
The visitors could certainly provide Bordeaux with some problems this Sunday, but as mentioned, Perkobvic is a well-seasoned coach, and we’d instead take our chances on both teams to score.
